Does anyone like this band. I really enjoy their music but have a hard time tolerating the death metal vocals. This is actually a huge problem for me when it comes to finding new bands to listen to. I like heavy music but a good deal of heavy bands use death metal vocals which I find very irritating. It just stands out to much for me making it so I can't really listen to the music. I also hate the idea of not being able to understand the lyrics. At the opposite extreme I can't really stand the high pitched operatic vocals either that Power Metal bands use.

Evanescence.
The way to go
I love them to death......
And they have a concert here on January 11th!
Tickets get!

I'm like the only one out of all my friends who wants to go to that concert, cause they think that the band is full on goth and weird. I did, however, manage to convince a couple of my friends to go, as well hot this chick from Uni into coming with me
It should be cool. It's my first concert too!
Yay!

You're in the same position as me, Gibdo Master.  I cant stand the high pitched vocals, like Cradle of Filth, although they do sound cool sometimes.  I continue to look for new metal bands to follow, but always end up listening to my old stuff.  Here are a few semi-new bands that are cool-Hatebreed arent bad, and i kind of dig Mushroomhead, with the duel vocalists.  I dont mind death metal vocals if they're in the deep voice.  Mudvayne are okay, other than that, i'm at a loss, as far as new groups go.  But i have to say , i really am enjoying the new Mushroomhead.  But after a few weeks, who knows?

Oh I didn't mean that they had to be brand new bands. I just meant new as in bands I had never heard before.

Just wondering, but why would any band name themselves "evanescence"? It doesn't make sense.

Just the same as to why any band would name themselves how they did.

Yeah, but evanescence has a meaning- according to dictionary.com, to dissipate or disappear like vapor. Is that really what the ban Evanescence wants to imply?

"the evanescence of a dream"
Wow! That is too cool!
*feels really stupid*
I feel Evanescence refers to the dissappearance from reality- the emotions and feelings from within when you'd rather be elsewhere. But I'm weird so its probably not what they mean.

robofish: I'm guessing you've heard "Bring Me To Life" and "Going Under"? They are good songs, but have been played to death. There are other great songs on there ("Whisper" and "My Immortal" are two brilliant songs in my opinion) which aren't given the recogition they deserve.

Termin8: Go the hot uni chicks!

Has anyone listened to the new Perfect Circle album- Thirteenth Step? I've got it and I'm still not sure what to think of it...

I like it a lot, but only because i like everything Maynard does, so i'm biased.

Gibdomaster, how about Danzig or The Misfits?  Or Clutch?

I was being tongue-in-cheek because they got in trouble for saying they weren't christian rock when all the christian charts thought they were.

No not really.  They met at a Christian camp, but they are not Christians now, and haven't been at least since they started their music career.

Evanescence is a really good band, i dunno what you guys are talking about, they arent a christian band, they even admitted they weren't on public TV.

A Perfect Circle rocks. I love their song "Weak and the Powerless". I never really heard much of Tool before, but im going to now, because a Perfect Circle has the lead singer of Tool in it right? Is Tool even a band anymore since the lead singer formed a A Perfect Circle?

One band you all should check out is Seether, they rock! They are the new Nirvana to me, which is a big hint to you all.
I am one of the dark motherf*ckers you'll ever meet!

Rock on!!

Current Listening to: Seether, Disturbed, Nirvana, A Perfect Circle, Puddle of Mudd
