You can read the Metroid manual by clicking here. In my opinion it makes it pretty clear that this game was her first trip to Zebes and it was definitely her first encounter with the Metroids.

I'm nearly 100% its a remake, but definately an EXPANDED remake.
Helll, i wouldn't be surprised if it took us to Maridia this time through... theres a chance this game might even be better than super metroid if pulled off correctly.  I just hope it doesn't use the fusion missile/supermissile system, which made supermissiles generally pointless.

The fact that the LONG BEAM is even in it, at all, makes me think its definately a remake of the original.

Yeah, the Long Beam has only been in the original Metroid. Main reason why is because it's stupid to make the player start with the short beam. It's just more evidence that it is more than likely a remake like you said.

I think it would be cool if they could take come controls from the first SNES Contra and put it in the next Metroid game... the feature where stick out both guns... most of you should know what I'm talking about... if you like Contra.

Nah, not necessary.  Unless it's a very rare game (Chrono Trigger, for example... asdflkjdsf) I don't see a reason for a port aside from making Nintendo money (which of course is the reason).  Besides that, I don't see why you would want to pay $30-$35 for a game you can buy for the SNES for $5.  SNES's themselves are pretty cheap too - those who don't have one should pick one up.  Just think, one purchase of Super Mario All Stars + Super Mario World will give you over a hundred dollars worth of Super Mario Advance games.

Super Metroid for SNES is usually around 30$, and it IS considered a rare game, it did sell quite a bit, but rarity is based on how hard it is to get a game CURRENTLY, and super metroid is hard to get.
Chrono Trigger is also around 30$ at this moment, so the rarity of Super Metroid and Chrono Trigger (and FF3, secret of mana, earthbound) are all equal.
(I own every game i just mentioned o.O)

Also, I didn't buy Super Mario All Stars + because I prefer to play the games on the GBA if i have the ability, Portable gaming = portable for a reason, I can play it wherever I go, somthing I really enjoy.

Bill, then, quite simply, theyre overcharging, (unless your canadian =p)  Check online stores, you can find it for 30, hell, they had it for $30 at GAMESTOP last time I was there (and bought earthbound for 25)
*Unecessary Bragging* I got my SNES copy of Chrono Trigger for FREE, a friend gave it to me */unecessary Bragging*

I plam on getting Chrono Trigger for my PS in FF Chronicles.  Plus, I get 1 or 2 other FF's with it, for a fraction of the cost!  What a deal!!!!
