Well , that cryptic comment would seem to give more creedance to the kid icarus theory.  Now, can somebody confirm for me :  Is/was Dead Phoenix a 3d on 'rails' shooter, or is it a 3d free roaming shooter?  And i hope its not just a shooter, but a platform game with some RPG elements, like my Kid Icarus 16 years ago..but lets not get ahead of ourselves..

it seemed like a 3d roaming shooter from the original trailer...  I think gametrailers.com has it.

How can you have a platformer where you can fly the whole time?  I think (and hope) the game is a 3D 'roaming' game, as Pale put it.  I want a huge, detailed world to explore and tons of stuff to do.  And no Kid Icarus!  Gah!  Why is everybody obsessed with that game?

You cant have a platformer when you fly the whole time.   But i dont want it to be flying the whole time.   I was speaking on if it was a Kid Icarus game.

Kid Icarus is a great game.  Right after Zelda and Metroid, it was easily my favorite NES game.  It didn't recieve an update like the others, barring a GB appearence.  Whats not to like?  Granted, if you never played it back then, you may have a hard time liking it now, 16 years later.  But i'd say that about every game that was out and about back then.

Nice to see Dead Phoenix isn't actually dead. This title sparked the most interest in me when the Capcom Five were announced. Since then, though... VJ has stolen its thunder in my storm. (What?)

We need all the Panzer Dragoon inspired games we can get.

Kirby can fly the whole time and that game's a platformer.

Awesome news!

I'm so looking forward to this game after seeing the trailer. It looks a lot better in motion.

EDIT: Would you really want this to be a new Kid Icarus game? I like it just the way it is, and although I'm wishing for a new Kid Icarus game, I really don't think the engine or graphics (well maybe the graphics) would fit the KI franchise. Trust me, I have both KI games, I've beaten both and I still regularly play both, so I really know my Kid Icarus!

Terranigma - Actually, that's a good point, I hadn't thought of that.  Still, it's quite a bit harder to do in 3D.  Really, I wouldn't mind a 3D platformer that much, I'd just prefer a free-roaming flying game.

Omen - KI might have been a good game (I've never played it, personally).  I think that if another KI is to be made, it should be an original game, not a variation on Dead Pheonix.

WoW! Looks like there has been a case of miscommunication. I saw the original news on Gamespot where they said it was cancelled (Along with PS2's Red Dead Revolver.) Gamespot has NEVER lead me wrong before but I guess there's a first time for everything. Looks like they'll have to stand corrected...

As far as Kid Icarus goes, Looks like Denis Dyack has just stirred the pot. If you check out GamePro, they've got blip of him talking about future products after the Metal Gear remake. He proffessed  "interest" in Kid Icarus. What about too human? Will that EVER see the light of day? (Remember he said a similiar thing when saying he was 'interested' in making a Metal Gear game.)

As far as Dead Phoenix , its good to know its back on track. But we haven't even seen a definative release date for Killer 7. (My hunch is we'll see it stateside summer/fall 2004 but I'm no expert.) Meanwhile, we have Viewtiful Joe to anticipate! Henshin-a-go-go baby!

Wow, that's great news. Miyamoto has also jokingly hinted at Retro doing a new Kid Icarus game, so there must still be some interest at Nintendo. Either that or they know that there are fans of KI out there. I'm sure Silicon Knights could pull it off...... but I still think Capcom would almost do it flawlessly. IMO, Capcom just seems capable.
