Gannondorf in SC3
« on: September 01, 2003, 12:15:03 PM »
We don't even need an official announcement for this one.  Link has been a great selling point and I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the next game too.  But Gannon would make a great bonus character too.  I didn't believe the initial rumors of Link in part 2.  But why not put Gannon or maybe some other Zelda characters in there like Shiek.  As long as they don't overshadow the fact that it is a Soul Calibur game.  Maybe we could see the Soul Blade in Zelda.  Maybe some Soul Calibur characters in Zelda.  I just hope there are more new characters in part 3.  I would keep most of the cast thats in part 2, except Necrid.

I wonder who will develop the realistic Zelda that is rummored.  Will it be Nintendo, Capcom, Sonic Team, or Namco?  Everybody seems to want a piece of the action these days.  And Nintendo franchises are guaranteed million sellers.

the new zelda that will come out on the gamecube is going to use the same graphic style as wind waker did
i would venture a guess that nintendo is probably working internally on the concept of a realistic zelda game for nintendo's next system- it would make sence and it would please a lot of fans out there saying that the windwaker is horrible because of the graphics (which is a totally craptacular opinion in my view)

i dont know if namco is going to release a new soul calibur so soon- i would say that if a new soul calibur were to come out it would be in another 2-3 years- sort of how soul calibur 2 came out to soul calibur- and i would bet they would capitalize on the special characters again- it turned out to be pretty popular and hopefully they would add more (such as gannondorf as you have stated earlier)
i call the big one bitey.

WW had the best graphics I've ever seen.  The only game that tops it is RE4.  Nothing is as eye poping that has been released as WW's individual art style and seemless technology.  Not even Doom3 impresses me the way that WW's graphics do.  I'm in my third year as an art major and can tell you that I know a lot about art and WW is the shizle.  I just wish the game wasn't a bunch little easy and simple islands.  In the real world we have continents.

I would actually like for Namco should create a Zelda fighting game with the SC2 engine. There are plenty of characters in the Zelda universe for a fighting game. There could be a Goron,  Geruda Pirate, Zora, etc...

the realistic zelda is in the making IMO, shiggy even mentioned that we'll see it sometime in the future but as for the next one, it will use the WW engine.  Someone at capcom ( I think the res evil mastermind, forgot his name) said they were interested in the zelda franchise.  Since they have done a great job wit the gameboy zelda's and if nintendo is willin to outsource the zelda franchise just once, I think capcom would be the safest bet.  I think they can do the zelda franchise justice and give it that realistic touch since they've had enough practice with the graphics in resident evil and a bunch of other games.  I dont think I'll want a zelda to look that realistic like in resident evil but somewhere around how the future segments of OoT just graphics more polished and the models a little better of course.  Still, if it were to go completely photorealistic for the "adult" zelda game, I would really like to see link's outfit altered somewhat becuase that tunic looks good in the video game world but realisticly, it'll look lil too fruity.  Well, back to the topic at hand, I do think in the next SC they'll use this multi character stunt again becuase it really is a good sellin point.  Ganon would be a nice addition as a hidden character along with the old man from WW that shows you how to fight lol, just for laughs lol.  Closest thing I see to a zelda fightin game would be if capcom were to do the realistic zelda and included a mini game withing the game.  Like in most rpgs where they have a coloseum where the main character can go and participate in fights and whatnot to earn gold(rubees) or other treasures( heart pieces in zelda's case)  I'm sure that'll be a really good minny game since I enjoyed the fights in WW like when you had to fight the old man and hit him a few hundred times lol.

Zelda can never be realistic. It is a fantasy story and adventure. Only graphical upgrades can make the fantasy look sharper and crisp, not more real. Stop categorizing it like that.

A quick comment off-topic:

I believe Zelda and Mario should only be developed at Nintendo in house.  They are the only two franchises I am that particular about.  Not that I doubt Capcom's abilities, but I believe they should stick with Nintendo.

I have one beef. Link TOTALLY didn't fit in with the rest of the soul Calibur cast. Not as bad as Necrid, but pretty bad. I mean, I want them to keep him just because I can pwn my friends as him, but he doesn't fit in visually. I think adding another Zelda character would be a mistake. I thought about it for a while and decided that they should add Crono. Think about it. Think about how badass he'd look. With that spiky hair and headband and all that. Or maybe the Boy from Secret of Mana. They'd fit in a lot better. But Link is still great.

Ever heard of Lord of the Rings? The animated, fantastical version sucked- anyone's who has seen Bakshi's well-meaning but utterly horrible rendition will tell you as much. The live-action, realistic version, however, is not only doing extremely well at the box office but it is being critically acclaimed as one of the best pieces of film making to ever grace the silver screen. Just because something ISN'T real doesn't mean it can't resemble reality.

Kenny: I agree with you to an extent, but I can also see the good in farming out franchises because you're getting a toally different perspective on the series. We've all seen what Nintendo can do with these games and it doesn't hurt to see other interpretations.

I get what you mean dirk, when I first heard the rumor I was wonderin if namco would make a custom outfit for link like every other character usually has a totally different outfit.  I wish nintendo wouldve let them have a little freedom and at least made a different alternate outfit.  I can picture link with a somewhat samuria( dont mind ma spellin, it sucks)  flair to him.  I'ma work on drawin a sketch of how I see him since I like to draw and hopefully post is somewhere for people to see lol.  But anyways, yeah, they shouldve made that tunic a little bit longer so you cant really see the tights and make some type of design on it besides just makin it a different color, throw in some sleaves on the tunic tucked into an arm guard.  Maybe even let link grow some dam facial hair lol, I know he cant have a baby face all the time specially at his age in the game.  I know some zelda purists would hate my idea but I wouldve loved to see something different done with him to make him fit in more into the sc world.  Like that people can have their choice of the original lookin link and the sc altered link.

Well in Zelda's case its too late. Capcom has already created two Zelda titles, superb ones I might add. Of course there were those atrocious CD-I games.....

Yeah, Darc, that's my mistake, I was speaking about home consoles; however, I didn't mention it. But I do agree that OoA and OoS were two great Zelda games.

I still don't see why you guy call him by the Japanese name. Fierce Deity Link sounds MUCH better in my opinion.

yeah, thats his name.

He looks totally like a SC2 character.
Here;s what he looks like.
It's not the in-game model, but the hand drawn anime version:

Very cool.
EDIT: You can see his face on my avatar here, but use the link if you wanna see his whole body. That blue, black and white look is really cool, and that sword is just absolutely awesome.

yeah oni Link is one badass MOFO,
a game featuring him would rock, but only if he could be gained throughout the game, you know, a status Link has to advance to in order to beat the bad guys because they are so friggin powerful
you know, kinda like in DBZ the Sayjins whatever had different stages they could reach and then would kick ass
