I also want to buy one of these...
« on: September 24, 2006, 06:21:33 PM »
I really want a Top Loader NES unit.  Have for quite some time.  Unfortunatly, all the local shops sell them for about $100 and they usually go for $75-$100 on eBay (plus $15+ shipping).

Anywhoo, I hate checking eBay... there are way too many cheap-o knock off "top loaders"... and flipping though page after page of them sucks.  I wonder if I suggested a catagory for VideoGames\Systems\NES\Official if eBay would go for it.  It'd make my life easier.

But, perhaps, I'm just dreaming, thinking I'll find one for around $50 or less.

All well, a man has got to have dreams - and since my last NESesque purchase didn't work out (in fact, I'm *still* dealing with Overstock.com trying to get that refunded.  Do *NOT* shop Overstock.) I just have to keep my hopes up for something...

Didn't IGN in the last year review a NES remake that was top loading?

The Generation NEX is the only remake I've heard of.  I think IGN might've reviewed it.  It's side-loading, but it's a regular plug-in style rather than that crazy push-down spring thingy.  It top-loads for Famicom games, I think.

The NEX, while purdy and having the ability to play both NES and Famicom games, sucks as bad as every single other NES Clone on the market when it comes to playing games.  Unless you want the super-sleek design of the NEX, I'd say save yourself $30+ and get a cheap-o Yobo.

Bill, any clue what's wrong with the second one?  I wonder if it's something I could fix...

I'm sorry, I just don't understand this multiple consoles thing. I play games on my Cube, my DS, and my PC. Between just those three I don't have enough time to play all the games I own.

Do you people with 7 consoles hooked up really have time to go back and play each and every one of them on a regular basis?

You're right, I should unplug that dust covered Gamecube and plug the PS2 directly into the TV instead.

I'd say I go back and play about each of my consoles about once a month or so (perhaps not my N64 as much).  It's just nice to have them *ready* whenever I want to.

I feel the same way Uncle Bob. In my entertainment system I currently have hooked up: NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Genesis, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, Xbox, Xbox 360. I also have all my other handhelds and what not on display: Gameboy, 2 GBAs, DS Phat, DS Lite, Game Gear and my Virtual Boy. Plus I love when people come over and their jaws drop seeing so many damn consoles and games.

It's also nice when there are consoles in there they didn't even know existed.

"What is that?!"  "Master System" "...."  That's right.

The only bad thing with that, though, is that with all those older systems they used the bulky power supplies that take up two plugs.  Especially whenever you have the COMPLETE Sega setup.  Ugh.
