How do I get a demo disk?
« on: May 27, 2003, 08:53:00 AM »
Hey everyone... sorry if this is a complete n00b question, but where in the heck do I get one of those demo disks from, that has Viewtiful Joe on it? Do I have to have a subscription to Nintendo Power or something? Thanks in advance.

The local F.Y.E. (For Your Entertainment) here in Gainesville, FL was selling them last week when I got mine. They might still be. I don't know if the rest of the F.Y.E. chain is selling them, but I'd wager they are.

Toys R Us has them. Sitting behind the video game counter, the guy told me 9.99. I of course am broke so I will not have this disc until Friday. For those that do have it is it as dope as it seems?

Also try Sam Goody. i've heard from a couple of friends that they have the discs for a penny, when they have them.

Awesome! Thanks for the advice, everyone!

I went and got one from Software Etc. (GameStop) for $9.99.

Oh, also, some advice for the rest of you that are looking to get a Demo Disk... do NOT get one from Best Buy. I went by Best Buy first, and they wanted $39.99 just for the Demo Disk. It was ridiculous.

Thanks again to everyone for the advice.

I too went to Best Buy and was dissapointed to see that they were selling the demo discs for $39.99. I started questioning the guy about it, and asked him "why would I buy this stupid demo disc for $39.99, when I could buy a whole freakin' game (such as Splinter Cell) for $10 more?" I know that it wasn't the employee's fault, but I am considering calling up our area's Nintendo Rep. and telling them of this outrage. They're not even supposed to be selling these dics, I probably should have pointed out the NOT FOR RESEALE located on the back of the box.

The major trailers on the disc are now online thru my site (and Fileshack).  All DivX, nothing smaller than 512x384.

I'm soooo glad I got this demo disc. Anyone that doesn't have it... you need to get it NOW! Out of all the games, Viewtiful Joe and Soul Calibur II are definitely the best, IMO. I can't wait for VJ to come out... If it sells well I hope they make a sequel to it. Maybe with some other playable characters, or something? *shrug* It's so addictive! lol

Yeah...I bought mine at BestBuy Sunday for $10.  I went back on WTuesday to look at Wario Ware and noticed the demo disk was now $40.  Insane.  I hope they get their asses slapped.

The Toys R Us in Lethbridge gives you the disc if you buy any GameCube game.  I couldn't afford it though, so I spent 10 minutes convincing them to sell it to me for $15.  I must admit that buying the demo disc and Resident Evil together for $40 was mighty tempting... but I couldn't afford it.
