Final Fantasy Concert in Sydney!
« on: March 20, 2004, 02:58:46 AM »
I don't know if ANYONE was aware of this, but last year, there was a concert for Final Fantasy music held in Sydney at the Sydney Congress Hall. Not only did they play music from Final Fantasy, they also played music from the soundtracks of Studio Ghibli's films - Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Castle in the Sky, Kiki's Delivery Service and My Neightbour Totoro (composed by Joe Hisaishi).

Very Cool!!

I was in the Kinokuniya Bookstore (which, as well as being a HUGE bookstore in its own right, has a HUUGE range of Japanese manga and novels!!!), and there was a guy selling CDs at the front of the store, recorded from last year's concert, and thats where I'm getting all this from.

So it's MORE cool that they're planning on ANOTHER Final Fantasy concert late this year, in Sydney - I think in the Sydney Opera House!
They're also trying to invite Nobuo Uematsu himself!
The concert this year probably won't have Joe Hisaishi's music, but there is the possibility! If they do decided to, then Joe Hisaishi himself may appear also!!

The CD stall will be there till May i think. I put my name down for a newsletter, so I'll let you know if anything is announced!
Meanwhile, here's the website:

EDIT: new version of the site isn't fully working yet, so give it a few days.

HOLY C-STICKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How come none of us knew about this last year?  I you Termin8 for telling us about this!

I would never imagined there would be a concert for Final Fantasy & Studio Ghibli's films music in Australia.  If there will be another one involving Joe Hisaishi's music, I would SERIOUSLY consider coming to Sydney just for it!    I would!   An added bonus will be SEGA music, games ranging from Shenmue (it has the most beautiful orchestra I've listen to) to Skies of Arcadia (the opening orchestra  theme when you start the game up) to PSO.

Oh man, this could be awesome!

It's not a game concert per se. Just a concert for Final Fantasy and Studio Ghibli music

I'll probably buy the CD - you go in the draw to win box seats or something to the concert this year and Sony MP3 player or something.
The tickets are around 70 bucks, and the CD is 20, so it'll be worth it

That CD sounds interesting!
It'd be cool if they got Nobuo to come this year, and the concert got the advertising it deserves. Not sure if I'm willing to fork out $70, though.

I think it would be worth it though.
It'd be a GREAT opportunity to possibibly meet some chicks there with the same interests as me
Of course that wouldn't be the PRIME reason I'd be going
