"I have a feeling I'm gonna die young" - Amy Winehouse 2008

The 27 Club

She had a good voice. If only she had said "yes, yes, yes" instead....

Not the least bit surprised considering the terrible lifestyle she chose. No one should be surprised that a singer who who constantly suffering from drug or alcohol problems (and whose biggest hit was about refusing to go to rehab) would die at a young age. I feel sorry for her family, but her death does not shock me in the slightest.

She looked about 55, I'm surprised she didn't die years ago.

Wow. I thought she was starting to do ok. She dropped out of the public spotlife and I thought had been trying to clean up her life. Too bad. She definitely put out a few good songs but I don't think she acheived what she could have. Hard to believe it was 2007 that she released her last album.

Yeah, she was never trying to clean up her life (at least really trying). It was just last month that she got booed off stage at a concert in Belgrade, Serbia when she was visibly drunk and couldn't perform (she mumbled her way through every song and left the stage several times for minutes each, leaving her band to fill in). Her last album was in 2006.

Well even if you didn't deserve it for the post, you certainly deserve it for that unnecessary explanation with passive agressive sarcasm. You've gotta learn to lighten up.

When have I ever wanted to even my applause/smite ratio? I've always tried to go as low as I can. Unfortunately, staff around here have to go around and artificially lower some peoples scores incredibly high for me to surpass. But I'll keep plugging along.

I actually can't name any Amy Winehouse song.  I only knew about her because she was an infamous train wreck and you had to be living under a rock not to hear about her.

I'm with Perm in the sheer shock that she was the same age.  Hell, she was YOUNGER than me.  She looked at least like a middle aged woman.  That's what they should use to disuade kids from drugs.  "If you do drugs, you'll look 20 years older than you actually are!!"  But then everyone knows that drug addiction sucks (or any addiction for that matter) but the assumption is always that *I* won't be affected and for a lot of people, that's true.  No one doesn't know what COULD happen.
