Episode 51: The Church of Pikmin
« on: April 29, 2011, 09:01:25 AM »

Cafés and Conduits are the order of the day on the latest Newscast.

http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/newscast/26185

With the first fifty episodes behind us, the Newscast Crew heads into the future by discussing the news of the day; Star Fox 64 using motion control, confirmed 2011 3DS releases, and of course the big news that Project Café will be playable at this year's E3 show.

On top of that, Zach dishes out his Conduit 2 thoughts, and we read a bit of listener mail.  All this and just a little bit more in the latest episode of NWR Newscast.

Be sure to rate us on iTunes, and email us at newscast@nintendoworldreport.com

Bless you, my child.

Ok, where did you find that Sunshine commercial?

After the introduction should have played "Now your playing with power"

First talker is the lowest voice.

Are you sure its not a Person or Place.

But you know E3 2008 was suppose to blow Hardcore gamers minds.

E3 marraige be awesome.

With how important this year is shaping out for Nintendo its sad its going to be  such a low turn out from the site.

4 Swords + Pacman Vs: A Crystal Chronical

Price.  I mean they thought they could Premium price it instead of putting it where it was.

I got the DS on launch and yeah... I was fighting off PSP on our forums.

Where's the list of those releases?  I'll keep track for the 3DS eating.

Is Animal Crossing really anything more then expansion ever?

Yes and no.

Yeah at this late.  I would want it to be a flagship even if its a Wii game that is enhanced for Super Wii.  Sort of like GB games that did proper color on the GBC.

Yeah, Punch-Out! Would lend itself to a portable.

Get the original.  You won't regret it.  Its a pattern game.

Stop fanning the moaning.

Port it for the tenth time.

WoooHooo.  Excitebike.

On the 3DS the browser could be more because of 3D Screenshots of games.

Honestly, I'm not as much as a graphics guy as all of you.  I barelly see a difference so far.

You know isn't this way too late.  This should have been at lunch of the Motion Plus.

"It was revolutoinary and crossing the border."

Listen to Jonny's RFN Prequel and think about how long the original took to come out.

F-Zero would be awesome on the 3DS.

We don't know anything about Pikmin yet so, it be safe to assume it be on the next system.  Lets face it more photorealism would fit that serious better than any other Nintendo series.

Oh, I like a full Earthbound collection with all of them so I can play them.

Ok this is weird commercial.

So you were all fighting during the break?

Didn't you just describe all FPS's?

It visuals and story.  You must feel like your part of the scene playing out.

It burns to hear you say that.

Metroid Prime is a hard game to beat.

Same voice actor as Duke lol.  I like Kevin Sorbo.

Yes somewhat.

Who played Diana Troys mother and is Rodenberry's widow.

Bunny-Hopping is common in all FPS matches.

Except Perfect Dark had the See/Shoot Through walls self guiding iWin gun.

I forget if I sent anything I tend to put it in this street.

Oh yeah Master R.O.B. and face the Challange of Gyro- Mite!

I miss Playing with Power.

I don't see any reason they couldn't change any of the built in software.

AR all the Pokemon cards.

Or the Cover itself is an AR card.  I mean that would be cool if all the 3DS cases would do AR.  So you could lay your collection out and it would pop up with Trophies like Smash  Brothers.

Eye of Judgement was good except they didn't tell you the rules and it has no real single player.

I do love Pokemon Stadium.

But in SSF4 it gives you a code not unlock the figurine.

The last Layton games that did that did it as an unlock on the cartridge.

Belligerent drunk.

lol

Picking up WW was the first trip I had ever taken to with my Wife.  We hadn't actually started dating and she was going down to get some Softball equipment so I hitched a ride.  Ended up meeting her father...

Hey Nathan, regarding Punch-Out!!, I would personally recommend the Wii version because it has some extremely fun challenges on the side.

I agree that there are a lot of old franchises coming to the 3DS. Sure, they've a history of providing a good time but most of us would like to see something new every now and then. I would certainly love to see a new Punch-Out!! in general because I really enjoyed the Wii version two years back.

I figure I would play Conduit 2 sometime soon, even if the average consensus is that it's just alright. I did enjoy GoldenEye when I played that a few weeks ago; I used the Classic Controller Pro and it did an admirable job of using the dual-stick set up.
This is where I would write something witty or funny if I had any ideas.

I enjoyed hearing the horrible old Nintendo ads. Conduit 2 is on the way from GameFly, btw. Zach, we'll have to exchange Friend Codes (TM).

Indeed, sir. Maybe it's more fun with people you know...and they agree not to bunny hop everywhere.

I'm right there with you, Andy; nothing would get me more excited than the confirmation of a new Pikmin game.

The last I head about Animal Crossing 3DS is that you become the Mayor of the town. That means Tortimer has finally died and maybe Tom Nook will become your #2 underling. Or something. Managing the town seems drastically different from room decore and maintaining friendship ties, but I doubt those elements will disappear because what else could you trade but furniture and KK Slider tunes for Street Pass?
I was disappointed with City Folk for Wii and I hope this new Animal Xing will revitalize the series and bring new possibilities through the 3DS features.

Zach, is Conduit 2 good enough to warrant HVS to produce Conduit 3 and a handheld title for the 3DS, or should the series be laid to rest? Honestly, I have not played the part two yet,but I am interested and it appears to me that with the Super Wii so close to reveal/launch HVS could really make Conduit 3 a good title for the system.

P.S.

I would love for the Conduit to move away from the FPS and go towars a Gears of War style third person shooter, but that is just me.

I am not at all surprised that the 3DS didn't sell to their expectations, because I haven't seen a single display unit in any of the several big electronics retailers in my area. Someone really dropped the ball on that one.

It could have City Design time then you do your normal AC stuff or possibly move into someones else's town.

If you haven't read the Iwata Q&A that BnM links to here: http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/forums/index.php?topic=34193.msg670485#msg670485

Read through that.  He flat out says that if AC among some other games aren't released this Fiscal year that Nintendo will not make their Hardware sales numbers.

Hey Neal I'm in the philly area so I'm down for a meetup.

Also I'm surpised that only Andy was excited for a Pikmin cafe launch title.  I'd be all about that.  Also I would love a 3DS AR Pikmin game.  I know Pikmin has cool backgrounds but still think an AR game would be awesome.

How about an original 3DS Pikmin game, with connectivity features when you hook it up to the Cafe Pikmin game. Kind of like Metroid Fusion and Prime, except with Pikmin.
