Topic: Problem with Playcube and PSOne controller

Just recently I bought a Playcube adapter and a PSOne controller for use with my Gamecube. I've got it to work almost perfectly now but the thing is that the games I play (particularly Capcom v. SNK2 EO) react to both the D-pad and the left analog stick at once which messes up the controls because the analog stick seems oversensitive. But when I push the analog button which should switch to digital mode, the red light won't go off and it just doesn't seem to switch. I'm really unfamiliar with PSOne accessories, so am I doing something wrong? Is it stuck in analog mode for some reason? Thanks.
