Activision Announces Spider-Man: Edge of Time
« on: March 31, 2011, 09:28:51 AM »

Beenox returns to the character to make a time-traveling game starring Amazing Spider-Man and Spider-Man 2099.

Spider-Man 2099 will return to gaming this fall with Activision and Beenox's next Spider-Man game, Spider-Man: Edge of Time.

Starring the future Spider-Man and the classic Amazing Spider-Man, players go between two different timelines, affecting the outcome of the future Spider-Man while trying to prevent the death of Peter Parker. Beenox and Peter David, co-creator of Spider-Man 2099, are both returning to work on the game.

No platforms were mentioned, though it is likely the game will be on Wii and one of Nintendo's portables.

More information will be revealed at a Wonder-Con panel this Saturday in San Francisco. The panel will include David, voice actor Josh Keaton, members of Beenox, and Marvel VP of Game Production TQ Jefferson.

Whoo! More 2099, please! Having Peter David involved is a very nice touch. I hope this game will explore more of the 2099 world and Miguel's character than was possible in Shattered Dimensions. Given the storyline setup, there should also be plenty of room to explore Miguel's complex feelings about the original Spidey and being compared to him all the time. They are very different people. One change I really want to see (or hear) is a different voice actor than the one used in last year's game.

Meh, whatever.  I found the 2099 levels by far the least interesting sections of Shattered Dimensions, so I'm not thrilled to see that Spidey again.  I would have liked to see more of Spidey Noir (and other interpretations of Spider-man in general), but I guess Beenox realized that they probably couldn't get away with that in a game released the same year as Arkham City.  I might check this game out since I did like Shattered Dimensions, but it's hard to be interested in this one.

Spider-Man Noir was just Batman: Arkham Asylum if Batman: Arkham Asylum wasn't one of the best games this generation and really frustrating.

Spider-Man 2099 was nifty, and I'd like to see it expanded upon. I'm not all about the universe like Jonny is, but I'm intrigued.
