Of late Nintendo has "dished" out many of it's projects to third parties and second parties alike.  It kinda gets you wondering what Nintendo has cooking in those halls at the HQ (or, heck, even the new dev plant).

Very true- they've kept their biggest franchises to themselves, like Mario, Zelda, and Mario Kart, but Metroid, F-Zero, Star Fox, and Pilotwings were all farmed out to other parties. Obviously it's because Nintendo's focusing on creating whole new franchises- I personally can't wait to see them. Hopefully they'll be unveiled at E3.

New franchises like Pikmin and Animal Crossing.  Both of which are getting sequels.
I got some killaz on my payroll.

they need to make one of those rhythmic shooters like Unity, but with Power Metal (more specifically, DragonForce)

honestly though, i think that they should make more Mario RPG type games ... not neccessarily another Mario RPG, mind you, but just branch out series a little bit... i want to see a Zelda game with more people to interact with .. and maybe exclude Link from the game.. so you are just playing as some Hylian warrior  (or possibly a really cool Gerudo male/female).

or a 3d Kirby game.. i would love one of those

someone needs to make a good game based on the Wheel of Time series.. maybe where you can play as an Aiel.. they kick ares
I'll shut up now...

personally i am just praying for a new kid icarus game to come out some time
the game is just so much fun on the nes- i always hoped nintendo would make a new one but they never did
but i do like the fact that nintendo is allowing other companies to take their franchises to new places
also- dont forget about wario world- developed by treasure- hopefully it turns out good
i cant wait to see what that new developement house has to offer- i am hoping for some kid icarus...
lets just hope nintendo gets some new games going
i call the big one bitey.

Well, I'd like to point out that they have allowed Capcom to develop Zelda games and Camelot to develop Mario Sports titles...so, really, nothing is sacred. I have a personal theory that the rumored "Second GC Zelda Game" might actually be under development by Capcom.

I think that Nintendo allowing other developers to make games in its franchises is a great idea. Not only does it allow Miyamoto more freedom to explore new game franchises and concepts, it also allows new ideas to permeate into already-established game universes. As long as Nintendo and Miyamoto have oversight authority, I think the result can't help but be a win-win product.

A side-benefit to all this is that letting outsiders develop games for key Nintendo franchises can't help but bolster relationships with those developers...thus mending a few of the bridges Nintendo burned during the last generation.

not to mention the fact that if they didn't farm out there titles to 2nd and 3rd parties we wouldn't
see half the amount of excellent Nintendo titles.

If Nintendo had to make F-zero, Starfox Armada, Mario Tennis, Mario Golf, Metroid Prime, etc
it would take a looooong time before they were all released...years

I like what Nintendo is doing, it's their form of "buying out developers"
I don't know if it would be better if they just bought them out though like Sony and M$ are doing

I guess maybe they feel a bit "burned" after investing money in Rare and not getting the results they
hoped for

Yeah, I agree with what everyone else is saying. This is good news for us gamers. Plus, from a sales standpoint, this gives the GCN an exclusive game which can only help. And it helps the developers. It's like, which would sell better if Namco made an arcade-type space shooter or Star Fox Armada? Obviously, SF: Armada would sell more because of the liscense. I'm not saying it'd sell a lot more (although it might) but it will get some people to look at this game that might otherwise not. I say they should farm out any and every liscense they have, for the reasons already stated.
I'd personally like Nintendo to make (and release in the US) a Fire Emblem for GCN and Cube Wars. That'd be cool.

I think what they are doing is great.  No developer that they farm this out to is going to complain that they are competing against Nintendo franchises, since they are releasing them.  They are forging stronger relationships.  And gamers get more games that have been overseen by Nintendo.  We win!
