New Tatsunoko vs. Capcom Character Revealed

Yatterman #2 is joining the roster for Capcom's Wii fighter.

Yatterman #2, also known as Ai-chan, was revealed as the reportedly final character for the Tatsunoko side of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars.

A completely new character, Yatterman #2 is Yatterman's girlfriend and follower, and is "one of the most unique characters in the game" according to Capcom's Seth Killian, who revealed the character on Today  On The Spot.

"She hasÂ…a million dirty setups," Killian continued. "I love characters that can throw a lot of stuff onto the screen. So she has these sonic boom moves that can cause little electrical balls to be bouncing off the side of the screen and they keep accelerating and they can go up and down, they can go at an angle. It's insanity."

Yatterman #2 is the 13th character from the Tatsunoko universe and the 26th character overall. Tatsunoko vs. Capcom:  Ultimate All-Stars is due out on January 26.

Kinda boring to get even more characters from a series that's already covered.

Yeah but that's pretty much all Capcom can do in this situation.  Because of how tricky getting the license to the current Tatsunoko series in the game probably was, in order to add more characters on the Tatsunoko side the easiest way to do it is to use characters from the series you now have the license to.  Not to mention the reason all the music is being replaced for the international version of this game is because Capcom didn't want to have to pay more to get the music license for the Tatsunoko series either.  I doubt they wanted to go through the trouble of paying even more just to get the rights to another Tatsunoko series just so they could add one more character, when the current ones all contain quite a few alternate choices.

And since there's no guarantee that this game will be a huge hit either, it's easy to see why Capcom went the more cost effective route.

Between the fact that Capcom has done nothing but give out empty promises to the Wii fanbase (aka us), and the fact alot of the anime characters are generally unknown to the North American front, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom has a lot to cover.

Sucks, but this is the reality third parties have put themselves in. This is not Nintendo's fault they spew bullshit.

And yet, out of ALL the games Capcom has released on the Wii, the ones that fans wanted the most was a new VS. game. It didn't matter than half of the character roster was from an obscure anime company. It was a game we wanted, period. And they deliver.

I'm more anxious to see how fans adopt it, because this is right up their ally...

Not sure there's enough fans to begin with.  Not only have "fans" migrated to other platforms, Capcom hasn't done much to nurture the current Street Fighting fanbase for this platform, and the Smash Bros. series has done a number on the "traditional" fighter market on Nintendo systems.
