Phoenix Wright WiiWare Coming Next Week

Your favorite attorney arrives in downloadable form this Monday.
 http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/newsArt.cfm?artid=20725

Capcom has announced on its Capcom-Unity blog that Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is coming to WiiWare next week.  The downloadable package includes episodes 1-4 of the game.  Episode 5 will apparently arrive as downloadable content at some point in the future.

The WiiWare versions of the Ace Attorney series are straight ports of the Game Boy Advance/Nintendo DS titles, as evidenced in this Kotaku preview from last year.  The Wii versions feature the addition of limited motion control, allowing you to select a piece of evidence and signal an OBJECTION! with a flick of the wrist.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney for WiiWare will be released on Monday, January 11 at a price of 1000 Wii Points ($10).

So it actually has less content than the original version? No thanks.

Actually, it has the same content as the original version.  The 5th episode was added as a bonus for the DS release.

The game came out in Japan a few weeks ago, I wonder if anybody here with a Japanese Wii has downloaded it? Does't Lindy have a Japanese Wii?

You're thinking of Greg.  Honestly, I'm surprised Lindy has an American Wii.  ;D

Probably. I know somebody on the staff has a Japanese Wii, I just didn't remember who.

There are a few staffers that have a Japanese Wii.  To my knowledge no one has checked this out, but I'm sure you can find impressions in the Internet Sea.

It does, but it's only ten bucks.  You probably can't find the DS game for less than twenty so even if the DLC episode 5 is seven bucks it's not a bad deal.  Episode 5 is way longer than the other four, almost the length of them all combined.

It's kind of disappointing that the graphics won't be upgraded at all. I can't imagine how terrible those little GBA images will look on the living room TV. Why can't the Wii release be more akin to the attention that Trauma Center received?

That's pretty lame of Capcom to charge another $1 for the last episode, but not surprising, and it's worth that dollar I suppose. They love nickel-and-diming that DLC, though.

My brother and I had a discussion about a week ago about just this. I fell down on the side of Capcom not upgrading the graphics, because, really, why spend the money to produce new art? That defeats the whole purpose of rereleasing this game in a cheap distribution channel when it's already worked over its fanbase on the DS and GBA so thoroughly.

Besides, it's style, not pixels that counts. And Phoenix Wright has got THAT in spades.

I still haven't decided if I should get this or wait for one of the later ones.

The fifth case isn't really a part of the story of the first trilogy anyway, it only becomes canon in Apollo Justice so leaving it out of the main game isn't a major crime.

Go with this one.  It's arguably the best of the 3 (although Trials and Tribulations is up there) and there's so much story/character continuation throughout the series you'll lose a great deal of the charm if you skip to one of the later ones.

Has it been confirmed that the DLC chapter will be $1?
