Topic: DJ Hero l You might want to consider getting it

I got a copy of DJ Hero in the mail and already spent a lot of time with the game. Music games in my house seem to get played for the first day or so, but only to try it out and they get put back on the shelf. The main reason is my wife doesn't want to pull out the drums and guitar and hook up the mic, but DJ Hero doesn't have the same problem. The turntable is a lot smaller than I thought it would be and hardly takes up much space at all.

Of course the gameplay is what matters and DJ Hero is a great twist on a genre that has grown rather stale with mainly the same game and different music every couple of months. They did a wonderful thing and added a no fail mode no matter what how hard or easy you decide to pick. You can play it on expert and go through the whole song. This is a great feature that should be in all future music games. I can see why they did with..considering there is a lot to wrap your head around with the new controller and how it all plays.

I'm contemplating it, price is a major demotivator though.

Nope, not even thinking about it. I hate almost all of the mixes (there have been only a small handful that I thought sounded good), and that is one of the biggest factors in a music game. It also seems a little too limited, and it's too expensive.

$120 is demotivating, but my sister really likes it, and I would like to get her into using the Wii.

I was just playing it at Best Buy at it seems pretty fun but the sound cut out and I had to reset the game (PS3 version) by the time it restarted, a bunch of kids swarmed the demo so I left the store. The other Best Buy I was just at didn't have connection to the controller (Wii version) so I didn't get a very good play test with it.

But the DJ turntable seems like a quality piece of equipment, and you can use one of your guitars to play multilayer.

I am thinking very seriously. I was told at Gamestop that when they start getting them used they will be $60. Its one of the guys in my Gamestop who is usually pretty reliable.

Are you sure he didn't mean they will be buying them for $60? Because GameStop usually buys back new games for half-price (at most). Used copies of the game with the controller will probably be about $100.

I'm not going to get this, mostly because I've got all the music-based equipment I need.  Space is an issue.  Also, the songs.  Mixes, dance stuff, techno-ized things, I just don't like that style of music.

I think it's got long-term potential, though.  The biggest question is if retailers will keep a few in stock all the time for people who decided to pick it up months down the line.
