The publisher announced that they are localizing and publishing the anticipated adventure game in North America.

After much uncertainty, Xseed Games recently announced that they will be bringing   tri-Crescendo-developed adventure game Fragile: Farewell Ruins of the Moon to North America, according to IGN.

Originally released in Japan by Namco Bandai, Fragile is set in a post-apocalyptic world. Players control Seto, who is one of the only humans left alive. He searches for other survivors in the world with nothing but a flashlight by his side.

During Seto's adventures he finds a girl named Ren, who he is separated from at various points in the game. As he searches for her, he must fight off ghosts, demons, solve puzzles, and explore the mysterious ruins in the world. Fragile was praised for its very emotional story and unique presentation.

The reason they chose to publish the title is because they received a large number of requests to bring it over to North America, and the company simply wanted to give their fans what they wanted, according to Xseed Games president Jun Iwasaki.

Xseed's localization manager Kenji Hosoi promises that the localization will be handed with extreme care. The company will try to retain the high quality of the voice acting. He admitted that it will be challenging since the voice actors used in the Japanese version are very talented.

When asked about a Japanese dub option, Hosoi stated, "We've already asked the development team to add a voice option where the player can choose from English or Japanese audio, and the initial feedback has been promising. Nothing is certain yet, but I'm sure they will do everything possible to add that option in so keep your fingers crossed."

Hosoi also revealed that the game will have minor changes and possible additions in the North American version.

"Some of the graphics will of course be changed to English, but we're really not taking anything out or thinking about any major changes at this point," he said. "We're trying to get some additional content as the development team (tri-Crescendo) seems to be really enthusiastic about their game getting released in North America, but [it's] too early to tell if scheduling and technical issues may prevent it or not at this point."

Fragile is slated to be released sometime this winter.

Maybe that will work for Retro Game Challenge 2 as well?

I really hope so, unforunately RGC 1 didn't sell very well and that is not a good sign.

This announcement makes me really happy, as this was one of those interesting-looking gems that didn't look like it had a prayer of making its way over here.  Xseed said they'd acquire this game if Retro Game Challenge sold alright, so I guess it sold enough to satisfy them on that front.  Now here's hoping that Fragile is actually a good game.
There was a Signature here. It's gone now.

Ditto. I'm going to continue keeping an eye on this, too. Hopefully they can keep the Japanese voice acting.

I'm glad to hear it is coming. What with Fatal Frame 4 seemingly stuck thanks to a Tecmo/Nintendo feud I was worried that this was going to not be coming over either.

Well, Retro Game Challenge didn't sell very well, I think it sold less than 5,000 in America which is a shame. The big motivator for Xseed to bring this game to America is overwhelming demand from their fans as it says in the article, "The reason they chose to publish the title is because they received a large number of requests to bring it over to North America, and the company simply wanted to give their fans what they wanted, according to Xseed Games president Jun Iwasaki."

XSeed is the hero of the hour. I hope it pays off for them. If I had the cash I'd buy Retro Game Challenge just to show my appreciation and support.

Considering how many bad reviews Fragile got and how many of the requesters were people who will probably react to the negative reviews I think this is a dangerous endeavour for them.

It isn't because they spend nothing to advertise their games.

Well, Retro Game Challenge didn't sell very well, I think it sold less than 5,000 in America which is a shame.

5,000!?  That seems insanely low for a game that had such positive word-of-mouth on the Internet.  I wouldn't expect it to break 100,000, but with the way Retronauts plugged the game for a solid month (at least) I would have thought it could sell a lot more than 5,000 copies.  Source?
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Shows how "relevant" the internet hype is.
