RE5 Postgame scenario
« on: April 01, 2009, 07:18:05 PM »
I finally beat RE5 last night. EPIC ending, truly. And when I say "ending," I mean the last half hour of gameplay, because you end up fighting Wesker a lot. The cutscene fight was definately my favorite moment in the game (much like RE4).

I unlocked a bunch of cool stuff, including the Mercenaries (finally). But before I delve into Mercs, I'm gonna go back through and find all the BSAA Emblems so I can unlock more bonus features and gun upgrades.

Here's what I don't get, though: What's the difference between Chapter Select and New Game Plus? Since all your equipment carries over anyway when selecting any given chapter, and then you can just select the difficulty and character before starting it, is there any real difference?

Aside from that quirky question, it's a great game. The final Wesker fight is tricky if you're playing alone, though, because Sheva's AI doesn't do what it's supposed to do.
This would be my PSN Trophy Card, but I guess I can't post HTML in my Signature. I'm the pixel spaceship, and I have nine Gold trophies.

The difference is you don't choose which weapons you start the game with, you just have what was in your inventory at the end of the last game. Of course, you can change that once you get past the first chapter so its no big deal.

I am currently working on getting a grade 'S' on all difficulties. Almost done with Amateur thru Veteran, Professional is going to be a bitch though. Not looking forward to the mounted gun level.

While having a rocket launcher with unlimited ammo sounds cool, it isn't very practical. Bosses go down quick though.

On the last level in the lava, knock the rock down before triggering the cutscene of the bridge giving way. Then jump over to get the jewel. Sheva has always damaged Wesker to the point of I don't have to plug him until he's up high.

We already have an RE5 thread.  Do we really need another one?

I expected more from a mod.  For shame.
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

The other RE5 thread isn't exactly focused. The first fifteen pages are about the stupid racism thing.

Finally beat it. F*cking Quick Time Events, I swear. Deus Ex Machina at the end, but then again, most RE endings are ("Oh, look. Rocket launchers." *high five*).

Good game, not great. Shinji Mikami's touch is noticeably absent. I don't think he'd make the game the same way. It's biggest problem is that it's RE4 with co-op and the co-op is barely cooperative. It plays like a single player game that happens to be 2 players since there are so few co-op situations. That said, the game didn't necessarily need co-op though it adds some replay value.

Capcom rammed the partners analogies and metaphors down everyone's throats. Chris/Sheva > Wesker/Excella. Yeah, I got it Capcom and without Sheva having to say, "I thought they were partners."

The plot was better and worse than RE4. Better in that the plot is at least somewhat coherent. RE4 was kind of everywhere. Things happened and you didn't know why. Worse in that there's no story arc. The story doesn't pick up until maybe 80% through the game and then suddenly, Wesker is the main villain. Sure, he was all over the trailer so you knew he was, but in the game, you walk all over Africa until you run into Wesker.

Overall, I enjoyed the game. It could have used more Jill though.

It's really hard to get an A or an S on the Savannah mission. Your accuracy is going to suck while gunning down motorcycle-riding Mojini--it can't be helped. The El Gigante boss is freaking sweet, though.

I agree with Adrock that the story was just kind of dropped in. What disappointed me is that Tricell's connection was never really explained.

I haven't played the game but if you want to improve your overall accuracy be sure to shoot the non-motorcycle-riding enemies as many times as possible (i.e. avoid headshots).

Well, the only other non-motorcycle enemies are riding around in the back of a truck that moves in and of your gun's range.

At any rate, if you do not die and take out the El Gigante as quickly as possible, even getting a B in accuracy may still result in an overall S rating.

The real key is memorizing the pattern that the riders use when they come into view. And taking out the trucks as soon as they come into range.

To get an S in 6-2, fighting Excella, shoot at least 30 of the black tendril things that are released onto the deck, along with not dying and not missing and not taking 30 minutes to finish... The first couple of times I played the level I was only getting like 8 kills, which is not enough to get the S.

It's the best mutliplayer solution since Capcom dropped the ball on split-screen. I'm currently looking for a better headset. I'm using the free Plantronics bluetooth headset my mom got free with her phone because it was free. It's pretty uncomfortable. I've heard good things about Sony's PS3 headset, but it still has that piece that lodges in your ear. I'd use a USB headset, but I'm spoiled and don't want wires. Decisions, decisions.....
