Well, it was bound to happen despite Kojima saying MGS4 was his LAST GAME. There is going to be another MGS game, and god knows what other kind of plot thing Kojima will pull out of his ass. Will Sunny hack into Snake's DNA and make him a main character again?

This article tries to make sense of it. Personally, I would want a Ghost Babel sequal on the DS. It was ten times better then what MGS3, PO and MGS4 was. Best GBC game evah!

The plot will be so, so confusing that the game will come with a dictionary and story guide just to make sense of Snake's backstory (not counting the real world events mentioned in the game).

The next metal gear will place Snake in a nursing home. He has to stealthy evade the nursing home staff and other residents by using a series of camoflaged wheelchairs so that he can attack the mailman, Raiden. And then it turns out it's not really a nursing home, it's Big Boss's re-envisioning of Outer Heaven. And his wheelchair is METAL GEAR.

MGS4 tied up most of the series loose ends or at least all of the ones that matter. Sure, Kojima copped out a lot (when in doubt, blame nanomachines, but it didn't turn out half bad considering the hole he dug himself into with Sons of Liberty. A reboot of the series makes more sense than a sequel though MGS5 is inevitable.

A long-gap sequel with Raiden as the badguy is kind of just biting off of Suikoden 3.

I'd personally go with a reboot or an alternative sequel. I'm curious what would happen if Konami stuck with the original concept for MGS2 which apparently involved Liquid Snake (real Liquid Snake, not fake Ocelot Liquid Snake) highjacking Metal Gear in the Middle East or something to that effect.

The team could use the engine for an action/stealth game that's not Metal Gear. MGS4 was so definitively an ending to Snake's story that it would be wise to have the series rest for a little bit and think twice about the next move.

Or Kojima Productions could go the alternate universe route and have another scientist with another Metal Gear. Personally, I'd rather see a crossover with Splinter Cell in some Fish and Snake international chaos.
