At this rate, I'm surprised they didn't make you pay for each boss.

They're saving that for Mega Man 10.

No, you're just going to have to pay to beat 9.

$2 for a 5kb sprite and three line of code probably still in the game = boycott. I really hope this game sell horrible, crashes and burns.
I agree, i'm not buying it now.

i don't normally say this because it can be/sound just as ignorant... but statements like that are so stupid to me. I understand the hate on the scam DLC (which i agree, all these extra modes for more $ is just milking the people gullible enough to buy it) but to claim you'll boycott the game because of it? Now thats just blind ignorance right there. You can play, beat and enjoy the game as is for $10 like i plan on doing, and just forget that any of this DLC **** is even out there. Its not like they're trying to sell you a broken game, christ.

I really hope your boycott statement(s) mean you plan on boycotting the DLC* and not the game itself, but with all the rampant internet idiocy that goes on its just so hard to tel..

*note: If you plan on boycotting the DLC alone then i actually agree with you, send a message buy not burning your money for a hard mode and **** like that.

Capcom is asking you if Protoman is worth 2 bucks.  If he isn't, don't buy him. Simple as that.

No one thought he would be in it, then they announce the DLC and everyone cries that they want it free.  Meh... buck up.

Seriously?  SERIOUSLY?  You CANNOT be SERIOUSLY encouraging this sort of bull****, when it is the kind of thing that would be included as a reward for beating the game not 2 years ago...

It's insulting, particularly to the hardcore crowd that this interests...
I'm not really encouraging it.... just stating that boycotting the entire game is a little bit too extreme in my opinion.  Regardless of what most die hards think, the DLC concept is successful in several areas of the industry.  I can't fault Capcom for testing the waters here.

Personally, i will be buying the game and then playing it.  At that point I will decide if paying $2 more to play as another character is worth it.  If I enjoyed the game so much that it is, then I'll probably go for it.  If I had to guess though, i probably won't.

Also, do we know for sure yet whether or not there is another cool unlockable for finishing the game?

As someone else already said, this isn't a 30-50 dollar one time retail game yet it probably took just as much development time as the average DS game.  Rather than alienate people with a high price on the WiiWare service, thus making it stand out in a bad way, they are testing the waters with this concept.

Who knows, if everyone boycotts the game maybe the next one will include all the stuff but cost 2-3 times as much.

Just pay for it if it's worth it to you, simple as that.

Paying for a Hard mode is just ridiculous. It's something that I (and most of us here) would obviously be interested in but there's no way I'm paying for it. There's just no way that it shouldn't be included in the game from the beginning.

Goddamn Capcom.

I totally agree.  I don't need most of this stuff and I'm happy to pay $10 for the game that I do want rather than $20 for a bunch of stuff I don't care about.  You might prefer to pay $20 and get everything all at once (though I don't understand why you would), but it would have sold a lot less if it had been $20.

It is kind of annoying the way this DLC is so obviously stuff that they already had planned and could have put in the game in the first place, but for all we know, they're losing their shirts selling the game for $10 and making it up with the DLC (I doubt it, but you never know).  Alls I know is, I'm glad I was able to buy the main game for only $10.

DLC does spur the creation of addon content though, if there was no DLC there'd be less incentive to develop anything past the original game, you'd maybe get one bonus character to play it again and a difficulty setting that just makes enemies do more damage/fire more bullets. The hard modes for MM9 sound like they changed enemy placement so it's a proper hard mode instead of the cheap one it would have been had it been in the game. Sure, Protoman would probably have been in the game otherwise too but I doubt the rest of that stuff would have made it. At least they made most of it cheap instead of going the Square-Enix route...

AFAIK Nintendo has stated they believe it's wrong to charge both for the game and for playing it, I suppose that applies to DLC too...

I'm down with this. Part of MM9's appeal is going to be the almighty speed run. I'm betting that Protoman will help get through the game a little faster.

Most speedrun categories specify a character if it's obvious that one is way faster than the other.

Should've saved those $8 for Vectorman in case MaBoShi comes out :P.
