The DS remake of the Super Nintendo classic will feature updated graphics, new game mode, and multiplayer. http://www.nintendoworldreport.com/previewArt.cfm?artid=16376 Officially announced at the end of last month, Kirby Super Star Ultra is more than just a straight remake of the Super Nintendo's Kirby Super Star as it adds multiple game modes featuring both single and multiplayer.
The eight games from the original remain completely intact with the exception of graphical upgrades and new fully-rendered movie scenes. The game uses the standard Kirby gameplay we all know and love which entails sucking in enemies and using their powers. This game also allows you to use various helpers to aid you along the way. In some of the other game modes you must race King Dedede or compete in a punching contest. In addition to these, there will be two brand new modes featuring King Dedede in Revenge of the King and Meta Knight in Meta Knight Ultra. Using two game cards, two players can play co-operatively as one takes control of Kirby and the other takes control of his helper.
There will also be three all-new touch-screen-controlled mini-games. These games, Kirby Card Swipe, Kirby on the Draw, and Snack Tracks, will be playable with up to four players on a single card using DS Download Play.
Here is some footage that shows off various features of the game.
Kirby Super Star Ultra is on tap for release on September 22, 2008.
