New 8-Bit Games - What would you like?
« on: June 27, 2008, 12:43:49 AM »
Since some crazy person out there thinks there are some of us who still like old 2D, 8-Bit games, what are some games you'd like to see brand spankin' new 8-Bit entries into the series?

Old school Mario, Kirby, Sonic, Zelda (OoT2D Remake?), Final Fantasy... Metroid?

Perhaps you want to see some of the newer games done 8-Bit?  Bioshock, Portal (the flash Portal game was all kinds of awesome), Super Smash Bros. (Super Sprite Bros.!), Halo?

Personally, I still want a 2D Smash Bros-like game.  Nintendo Mascots, locations, and power ups combined with a full Shadow Battle Mode-esque game from Four Swords Adventures.
Just some random guy on the internet who has a different opinion of games than you.

I'm all for 2D, but I'd prefer new 16-bit style games over 8-bit ones.

A new old school-style Mario is a given, and a traditional (as opposed to Phantom Hourglass) 2D Zelda. I'm drawing a blank on anything else right now. I already got a new Tecmo Bowl, so I think I might be being a little selfish if I demanded too much more right now.

A glooming peace this morning with it brings;
The sun, for sorrow, will not show his head:
Go hence, to have more talk of these sad things;
Some shall be pardon'd, and some punished:
For never was a story of more woe
Than this of Sega and her Mashiro.

I really like what Nintendo is doing.  Sony and Microsoft say "Here are 150 colors and 25 brushes, make a game and use it all." all the colors are brown
Nintendo says "Here are 100 colors and 20 brushes, use however many you like until you have made what you want."

I am always for a new Zombies Ate My Neighbors (16) but if it had to be 8 bit I would say the old Ninja Gaiden games.

I really hope more people pick up on the idea that you don't have to use every pixel or every polygon possible.  I would buy all kinds of games if they just put Cactus's shooters on there.  They all have incredibly simple graphics but they always  work.

I would really love to see a new 2D Zelda made by Nintendo with the same visual style as LTTP. That would INSTANTLY go on my most anticipated list.

Four Swords Adventures WiiWare Edition, please... =D

(Though, I guess that's not really 8-bit...Perhaps a Link's Awakening-type game?)

2D RPGs.

Yes, Final Fantasy IV: The After on WiiWare, please.  Won't happen, but since we're dreaming, anyway...

Four Swords Adventures WiiWare Edition, please... =D
This would make me feel warm and fuzzy inside.

Then I think about how the DS is perfect in EVERY WAY for a four swords game and that Nintendo just chooses to ignore that.  And then I get sad.

Now I am sad.

I would really like some more TMNT games done in the old style. The newer ones were decent but no where near as fun as the old ones. There are others but I can't think of them right now.

I want more Pixel games. He should port Cave Story to Wii Ware, then use the money earned from that to start a game development studio and work on games full time.

I want this guy's work on Wiiware though that doesn't count as 8 bit.
