AWAY - New ARPG by Sakaguchi
« on: December 12, 2007, 02:06:38 AM »
It's like Soul Blazer or Dark Cloud, but with a twist!

Scan 1
Scan 2

- You have to go into the dungeons, find a villager, rescue him, and escape from the dungeon. So it's a two way journey.
- The dungeons are divided across the two screens, and a timer appears on either side to indicate when that screen will "shuffle" into a different screen. The player must not be on that screen when it shuffles or he will be damaged. If you are damaged in this way while rescuing a villager, the villager will return to the bottom floor of the dungeon.
- The story of the game revolves around a village with a curse that has been going on for 100 years. Each year someone disappears mysteriously. As a young boy named Sword, you enter the dungeons via pillars of light that you find, and attempt to rescue the villagers who have been taken "away", by bringing these people back they will expand and develop the village while introducing new shops to be used as well as unlocking more story events.
- The game is 85% complete and seems to be ready to meet the 28th Feb release date.

lol, I got a Sears pop up ad from Ghisy's siggie, that ad text stuff is really inconsistent because it's not on all of Ghisy's sig's.

Game wise, I'm not holding my breath on this one, mainly considering how ASH turned out being a rather mixed bag from what I have read.

Man, I'm so confused, I don't see any ads or pop-ups...
But we should go back on topic which is the "AWAY" A-RPG for the DS!

Different developer...Artoon is on this, and they've been getting better, so there's still hope for sure...

Well, in either case dungeon crawlers never really were my kind of games, with the rare exception here and there.

A localized trademark appeared a couple months back, but other than that there's been no news on when the localization will hit... =(

(The Japanese release was pushed back to the Summer, so we probably won't see it until at least Fall...)

God, it sounds like a Mystery Dungeon game.  :pukes:  I hope it's better.

I do find it interesting that they seem to be embracing the overly polygonal characters... Kind of reminds me of FF 7 in a way and I kind of dig the retro feel.

Mystery Dungeon games aren't ARPGs...

So if anything, it's more like Children of Mana (though that's not really a great example, it's more apt of a description...)
