The number 12
« on: April 09, 2008, 12:54:44 PM »
Is it just me or is that number everywhere? I am thinking there is some conspiracy going on that can only be solved by some mathematical equation nobody on this earth is smart enough to figure out and the problem has something to do with the number 12. I can't quit put my finger on it but something tells me that we are close to some global catastrophe that can only be solved by figuring out this riddle. Damn I lost it, I had the solution RIGHT THERE!

Think about it, most people hit puberty when they are 12, theres 12 months in a year, 12 is half of 24 and theres 24 hours in a day broken into 2 different 12 hour periods, we have 12 Justices in the Supreme Court, a Jury is made up of 12 people, Lindsay Lohan was 12 when she did Parent Trap, we have the Big 12 in the NCAA, eggs come in multiples of 12, the standard game of Dominos uses Double six which equals 12, when Jesus was 12 he was teaching in the temple, there are 12 tribes of Israel, Jesus had 12 Apostles, many countless Biblical references I won't list, other major religions also have important ties to the number.

The list goes on. I just never made the connection but 12 has always been my favorite number and I could never figure it out and now all of a sudden I just realized, there are way too many MAJOR references to the number to just be a coincidence. Think about it, the History Channel did a special on how the world could end in 2012. Someone who is reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy good at math should figure this out.

The Mayans already figured it out a couple thousand years ago.  They said the world ends or resets December 21st 2012.  Hell, they invented the calendar and knew more about astronomy than us up until the last century.

Not to say that I believe. haha

I seem to recall that all the biblical references to 12 come from it being a number that represents all of Creation.  The number 4 represents Earth (e.g. the four corners of the Earth, the cardinal directions), and 3 represents Heaven (e.g. the Trinity), so the numbers 7 and 12 come up a lot because they combine the two through addition and multiplication respectively.

Edit: Also i thought this thread was about the movie "The Number 21" but the Rat just fudged the title up lol

This is the greatest topic you've ever made.  Seriously.  Pure genius.  You should quit while you're ahead.

Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

Honestly I set out to be my normal joker self and it hit me, wow there really are a lot of strange coincidences regarding that number. After I typed my post I did a wikipedia search and now am even more fascinated. But I don't honestly think the world will end in 2012, the timing is off for that.

There are 9 supreme court justices, not 12.

I forgot it also takes 12 hits to defeat the final boss in Sonic 2, so now Japan is in on it also.
