Back in those days Sony's mascot went to Nintendo and attacked them directly. Nowadays, they don't even mention the competition in their commercials. And I'll bet that the guy inside the costume is probably the PSP stalker himself.

Haha, I definitely remember this commercial and a few others similar to it. Crash was apparently Mario's worst nightmare, what a coincidence, he was my worst nightmare too.

The Crash commercials were great. The games however, weren't as grand.

I scoff at the notion that Crash was in "organic 3-D."  Playstation Crash was NOT 3-D.  The game ran on the same plane as Final Fight or Double Dragon, just pivoted one quarter-rotation clockwise.

See, the reason I LOVE this commercial so much is because of the irony of it all, and the fates at work...

Who knew that years after they produced that commercial Sony would lose the exclusivity of the Crash Bandicoot franchise and thus would be featured on a console made by the company they openly mocked?

I remember that commercial, too bad the series wasn't nearly as good. Not to say it was bad, but it was way too linear and the behind the back camera was death inducing from time to time.

To answer the question about what happened to Naughty Dog, when they became a Sony studio, they lost the rights to Crash which was owned by Sony rival Universal.

Ah, thank you.  That's a damn shame.  God I miss good Crash games.  At least I still have Crash 1, 2, and Warped and good ol' backwards compatibility.

I was one of those people who actually hated the series. Not because it made fun of Nintendo but because my sister saved her Crash game OVER my FF7 game and from that day forward I swore I would never let another Crash Bandicoot disc touch any of my game consoles ever again.
