HEre is what Heavenly Sword is like:

-Begins with innovative button timing sequences
-Fight hordes of bad guys by mindlessly pressing all buttons
-Fight more hordes of bad guys who block but you still only need to hit buttons mindlessly and you will get lucky
-Fight more hordes of bad guys except you can pick up stuff to throw at them. Oh wait, when you try to pick something up you have trouble using it correctly and end up tossing it the wrong way accidently. If this does not occur, the hordes of enemies hit you while you try to pick up the barrel
-You fall asleep right when the HUGE cliffhanger happens (Ok not really).

I hope it turns out to be more than a button masher. Correct me if i'm wrong but does the character automatically block when not attacking? If so, I bet there will be a little more stratagy and timing involved with the later, harder levels.  The demo reminded me a little of the Mark of Kri for PS2. Quite different games but a similar "feel".

Well I think thats cheesy that if you don't touch any buttons the character automatically blocks.  Unless Ninja theory does something amazing to the game I think it will be another Genji minus giant enemy crabs doing massive damage.

You automatically block, but if the attacker is using a strong attack, you have to be in a 'strong' position to block that attack. You can tell by the color of the aura around your attacker.

Basically it was like 15 'blue' guys and one 'red' guy, who really stands out when he's ready to lay the smack down.

oh, ok that makes sense. I wish they would have gone with more of a Ninja Gaiden Sigma or Mark of Kri blocking system where you press a button to block but it doesn't matter which direction the attack comes from.  I still have faith that it will be a great game when it's all done.

What has Kiera Knightley ever done to you to deserve this?

I guess I'll take your word for it that it's button mashing, but this has got to be the most exciting button mashing I've ever seen.

Incidentally, you don't automatically block. You have to be in the right stance (out of three) in order to block an enemy attack. Enemies flash one of three colors when they attack, signifying the stance you should switch into if you wish to be awesome. It almost makes the game sound like a rhythm based fighter.

Didn't I say something about being in the right position? And by automatically blocking, I mean you do not have to hold any buttons down. You switch positions with the R1 button, I believe.

Also, try figuring out which stance to be in when you have several characters attacking you at once. You may block one only to get hit by another you weren't in the position to block. It can be extremely annoying. At least the other analog stick lets you roll out of a group.

You do know the final game is going to have multiple languages, right?

You must easily be impressed, it looks like a game with alot of flash and not much else. Nothing there looks that much different from the demo. And unless things improve I could care less about stance thing because I didn't once use it in the demo, there was no need to do. Not only that but the controls felt sloppy, especially when it came to throwing enemies (Not to mention the visuals aren't that smooth).

I played the demo and find nothing redeeming or unique about the game.

That's the first time I've seen footage of the game, and here's what I think it looks like:

God of War.

Seriously, it looks like a God of War clone.
"I am going away, but the State will always remain" - Louis XIV, on his deathbed.

"Chimps are like fine wine: I drink them both." - A friend of a friend of mine.

Well, I guess it's all flash since you guys seem so "meh" about it. Still, on that flash alone I expect this game to get a lot of face time and some media coverage this holiday season, as well as snagging in early-adopter sorts of players (hey, I wonder if that's what I am?) as well as eventually moving a respectable amount of units, maybe a couple hundred thousand.

After all, God of War for all its critical acclaim moved just around 2 million units... so there must be a market for flash.

Believe me if the demo is any indication, this is NOT a God of War clone a game which I really enjoyed.

God of War was the only game that truly made me happy to own a PS2.
