Yes, it was a new Mario side-scroller on a system with a huge install base, but the game didn't blow me away (I even sold it back, tho I now regret it). They should put out a second one of that out soon, but make it have a little more character next time around (the SMB3 to the original SMB, if you will). Super Princess Peach 2 would be nice, too.The reason it's sold so much is because it's done exactly what the game was designed to do, recapture the feel of the Original Super Mario Bros, which it did. That's why the game was called NEW Super Mario Bros. Anyone could just pick the game up and play it at anytime, just like the original. That's why the levels were all simple and small, get from point A to point B, like the original.Even though some of you didn't like the game because of this, too bad. The game wasn't meant to be a sequel to Mario World, but a tribute to the Original. The director of the game EVEN SAID SO HIMSELF.http://www.gamesarefun.com/news.php?newsid=6106QuoteTezuka also stated that New Super Mario Bros. will be a sort of throwback to the original NES Super Mario Bros.. Basically he feels that as Mario evolved, the games became more for the hard-core audience. He quickly clarifies that statement by saying, "That's not to say this game isn't for hard-core players, but I want to recapture the spirit of the original Super Mario Bros."

It was mostly the presentation; the music wasn't that hot, and using 3D graphics instead of sprites stopped the stuff on the screen from popping out right at me. But both of these could be tweaked for a sequel, otherwise the rest of the game was fine. It was just the blockbuster number that surprised me.
Insanolord is a terrible moderator.
New Super Mario Bros. has the absolute best 2-player multiplayer on the DS in Mario vs. Luigi.
