Man, that guy they inteviewed is made of buzzwords.

"So, what did you have for breakfast?"

LOL, you're right zakkiel.  I couldn't even read past his first two answers.  I especially loved/hated all the airplane metaphors he threw into his response to the first question.  That guy's so adjective he verbs nouns!

Looks like crap, just like CoD. Come on, we KNOW the Wii is capable of more than this.

Interesting thing about the screenshots is that I don't think any of them are from the Wii version.  I just got done going through the press stuff codemasters sent out, and the only thing labeled Wii is the "Concept Screen" I just posted to the site.

just posted in talkback:  Has anyone played the 'heros of the pacific' game that this game is somewhat based off of?  Also, any news of Ace Combat coming to wii.  I think that would be a great fit.

I think that's a direct result of the Yamauchi years.

I hope that Iwata has instituted new programs at Nintendo that has helped foster better third-party relations. We can see that with EA and Ubisoft supporting the system here that so far they've been much more open with third-parties.

I think we can expect more support from those developers. Wii just keeps getting more and more buzz all over the world. In Japan, especially, Wii is set to revive Nintendo's place in the console market. They've yet to make a completely terrible decision. The controller price issue sucks for consumers, but all indications point to people paying it simply because Wii is such an attractive console. I will begrudgingly throw $60 down for extra controllers. I may not like it, but I know I'll do it in a heartbeat. The controller price was Nintendo's only real mistake and it's kind of a non-issue. So, all things considered, I don't think we have to worry about 3rd party support at all. If Sony continues to f up, developers will turn to Wii without even giving 360 a second... or even a thought. But, I think we'll see more support anyway because it has so much potential and it's bound to be popular.

well I see any good 3rd party support as good news.

What I find interesting is that he said enviroments will be compleatly destructibel, I can just see myself bombing the hell out of every city.

But I do hope they improve the visuals, the fire looks like crap.  If they can make it look like the human torches fire effects from "Marvel Ultimate alliance" thn this game will look just great.

A new preview is available at IGN http://wii.ign.com/articles/759/759775p1.html , as well as two new videos with in-game footage, and new screenshots.
Apparently there will be no multiplayer, but after watching those videos and knowing that it supports 480p and 16:9 I really don't care that it doesn't have multiplayer, I am buying this game.

What happened to Blazing Angels?

EDIT: I don't get why the British guy was hyping the "Impact Cam" so much - it came off as more distracting and gimmicky than anything. The graphics of the other planes blowing up weren't even that good..

EDIT 2: Aha! It's being developed for the PSP and PS2 as well.. no wonder.

Unrelated: Does anyone remember that Mark Bozon blog showing plane fighter games on the 360, PS2 and PSP which, when looking at them, you couldn't tell the difference?

Blazing Angels is set for sometime in February or March, I remember it was on Nintendo's Q1 release list. Personally I'm hopeful that Ubisoft is trying to put some more quality in these games.  I notice that they've delayed a lot of their Q1 releases too.

I had a copy lying there for like, 2 months and only now opened this up.

People. This game will make you WANT ROGUE SQUADRON.

Seriously, the Wii "arcade" controls are so easy for flying. You just point in the direction you want to go. I would be really, REALLY, excited to see more flight games for the Wii because using the wiimote as a directional pointer (point left to turn left, up to go up, etc.) just makes so much sense and feels silky smooth, there's almost nohing between me and the game! Lining up my sights to fire off my guns at enemy fighters is mindblowingly natural, not like I'm wrestling with RS' joystick controls at all. Everything just melts into place, my sights line up smoothly and I've never felt better about my ability to aim!

Admittedly, the game's controls aren't perfect, but the rough spots could be fixed so easily if a developer put some more effort into it!

Oh god they need to make more games like this for the Wii! Rogue Squadron, I don't know, something... Free Lancer, that has a control scheme similar... oooh just... the possibilities!

The console is made for flying games, I'm sadenned that theres so little of them.

This also screams for a Pilot Wings game, good thing the GC never saw one or someone would end up suggesting another damn port with added waggle.
