I never realized that Ocarina of Time's music was randomized. I knew fighting affected it, and that sometimes it faded out differently as night approached, but I figured that was just because shifting into combat mode changed the timing. I remember the drums with Yoshi in SMW. It's really surprising to hear how much he's done with interactive music. I've always liked interactive music in games, but Koji Kondo does it so subtly that I was never really conscious of it.
Edit: From Kohler's interview:
Quote
KK: I graduated from university in 1984, and I found my way to Nintendo by looking at the school's job placement board. You're supposed to apply to many different companies, but I saw the Nintendo ad, and had a love of making synthesizers, and loved games, and thought -- that's the place for me. I interviewed with one company, Nintendo, and that's where I've been ever since.
Man, talk about living the dream. We should all be so lucky.
