I don't know if anyone has noticed this, but while I was playing with SB's Wii I noticed some small things in the Wii channels that I thought were quite wonderful.

First off, I like how the Wii channel is like a literal channel surfing experience. I like it that when you select a channel and you hit either the plus or minus buttons it looks like you are actually channel surfing! I know, not a big deal, but I thought the presentation was very neat.

Second, I LOVE the unique animations each Wii game has when they are displayed on their channel (like the animated Triforce logo for Twilight Princess and the dancing Elebits). Again, nothing that groundbreaking but is certainly a step above the traditional game description or icons.

And finally, I have officially deemed the Photo channel...the multiplayer Photoshop. Seriously, me, my nephew, my niece and SB all had a blast just doodling over a picture of Cap. It's almost too much fun for a simple product...Too bad it will likely be one of the least used features of the console.

Post here any other small elements of the Wii (or the Wii games) that thought added greatly to the experience.

I'll put it this way, whenever I can I usually import a new image into the photo channel just to do the damn jigsaw puzzle with it. Speaking of which, try doing it with a movie set to 42 pieces for added challenge. (192 if you're crazy enough to give it a shot) What even funnier is that it actually keeps your best times.

I like how every virtual console game get's it's own channle, some mey hate it but I like it that thoes channle spaces are actually being taken up.

I love how smart the controllers are. Not with motion sensing, but for example how when you turn the Wii off all the controllers turn off automatically. Then, if you have multiple controllers on and you start a single player game like Zelda, the rest of the controllers turn off.

That attention to detail shows just how much love Nintendo put into the Wii.

If you still live at home, or with other people, DO NOT put pornographic pictures or videos just for the fun of it, then do them as puzzles and then accidentally get an incredible best time.

It'd be embarrassing if anyone saw it. So you'll have to beat it, and it might be really hard.

On the flip side, I hate how if you're playing a game like Zelda and your battery runs low you can't just grab another remote and start using that one. Instead, you have to swap out batteries on the remote you're currently using. I just now realized you might be able to take out the batteries of your current remote and then turn on the other remote and use that one. But I haven't tried this.

Vudu, I think your spoilered idea does indeed work...I believe I accidentally started up a second remote while I was replacing the batteries in the first one, and I didn't want to because the other one was not running on rechargeables. Oops!

I confess, I have yet to buy a single VC game, but I go through and read the description for all the new ones each week.

I did something probably similar to what vudu suggested when I was running low on battery power when I started up Wii Sports. Though I had both of the Wii Remotes going so when I did a switch, even doing the reconnect option in the pause menu, but then I had a weird situation where the Wii was recognizing the remote as Player 1 but the game was considering it as Player 2. Since Player 2 can't select anything in Wii Sports, I pretty much had to reset. Weird. But I guess such oddities are against this topic so I'll shut up...not that it was major anyway.

I always forget to ask...is there some way to save your edits in the Photo Channel, or more accurately, export edited images? I can understand why Nintendo wouldn't want people saving over their precious pictures, but someone mentioned a method of posting an edited image to the Message Board and then forwarding it to email from there. Were they mistaken? Because I can't seem to forward photos posted on a Message Board to email, though I can forward them to other Wii users.

If you can't, then sadly the Photo Channel's Doodle Mode will be underused. I suppose upgrades could always make anything possible in the future, including entirely new Wii Channels.

Hmm, I don't think there's a way of putting it back on the SD card, but I thought the post on board/e-mail thing would work. I'll have to try that..

My (extended family) "cousin" brought his Wii with SD card to the New Year's party... and then the little children were doing puzzles with the 3 Jessica Alba swimsuit pics he had, then doodling obscene things on her... then obscuring suggestively certain sections of anatomy... and my younger brother was the worst influence ever, the culprit for most of this right in front of our young cousins and at risk of having the parents and uncles upstairs coming down to see this... even though he's supposed to be a mature 21.

lol, i did the same thing but unfortunately all i had on my SD card was pictures of scenery from a trip i went on and Mega Man ZX Artwork.

Back on topic I like how in Rayman (not sure if it does this in other games) the game tells u when the batteries are getting low. I also like how hitting the home button shows u the battery life too.

OK, this topic is derailing rather quickly...

One other small feature I thought was very neat was how the controller rumbles when you point it at something on screen (mainly on the main Wii menu). It makes pointing with the Wiimote very natural. It makes it so it feels like you are touching something.

Between the pointer, the rumble, and the speaker in the wiimote, they could make an awesome game for the visually impaired.

Soz to bring this back up, but i'm surprised this wasnt mentioned.

If you look carefully at:

All the male/female jacks and ports, except the USB.
The console itself
The plastic "cap" on the wrist straps

They all sport the same "chipped corner" design throughout.

That wasn't mentioned before? I noticed that when I took my Wii out of the box. BTW you didn't mention the power brick. The Wii-side of the video cable has two chipped edges while the Wiimote expansion port has none. The Wii itself has a chipped corner in two of the three dimensions (top and side), I suppose they couldn't find a good way to give it a chipped edge when viewed from the front.

I doubt there would have been a practical way to give the expansion port on the remote a chipped edge.
