This is my living room's entertainment center (not to scale!).
A.) My TiVo. Coming into this is my Cable TV feed. The TiVo is connected directly to my VCR (J) and my PS1 (H). Also connected to my Router (K).
B.) An alarm clock. The alarm doesn't work, but the clock does, so it's a handy clock to have in the living room.
C.) My NES. Old School, toaster style. Goes to Switch Box (G) Button #1.
D.) SNES Mini. Goes to Switch Box (G) Button #1.
E.) N64 (Black). Goes to Switch Box (G) Button #2.
F.) GameCube with GameBoy Player and LCD Monitor. GameCube goes to Switch Box (G) Button #3. The Monitor is getting a feed directly from the Switch Box (G). Also connected to my Router (K).
G.) 4 Button Swith Box. Button 1 is connected to my NES/SNES. Button 2 is connected my N64. Button 3 is connected to my GameCube. Button 4 is reserved for my Wii. The feed from this splits to my GameCube Monitor (F) and to my VCR (J).
H.) PlayStation 1 with LCD Screen. This isn't hooked into anything, but the screen gets a feed from my TiVo (A).
I.) DVD player with Surround Sound. Feed from this goes directly into my VCR (J).
J.) VCR. Everything feeds into this. If the VCR is off, then the TV (L) shows the feed from the TiVo (A). If the VCR is on and showing set to Channel 3, then the TV also shows TiVo. If the VCR is set to another channel, then the TV shows the cable feed for that channel (with a bit of static if the TiVo is powered on). If the VCR is set to the input channel, and the DVD Player (I) is on, then the TV shows the DVD Player. If the VCR is set to the input channel, and one of the Video Game (C-F) systems are on and the right button is pressed on the Switch Box (G), the TV shows that video game feed.
K.) My Router, wired into my computer, GameCube (F) and TiVo (A). Wirelessly connected to my DS and (soon) my Wii.
L.) My TV. Gets a feed directly from the VCR (J).
So, here's how it all works together. The PS1 LCD (H) will always show the Cable feed (when it's on). The GameCube LCD screen (F) will always show a video game feed (when it's on). The TV (L) will always show whichever I want it to. So I can play video games on a small screen and watch whatever show on the big TV or I can watch the show on a smaller screen and play video games on the smaller screen.
Now, in addition to the TiVo, Clock, NES, SNES, N64, GameCube (with screen), PS1 (with screen), DVD player, VCR, Router and Television set, my Computer and Monitor are all plugged into an 8-plug surge protector strip or plugged into a 6-plug wall-mounted surge protector (which the 8-plug protector is in). So, basically, all of this stuff is plugged into one outlet (two plugs). I've wondered what would happen if I turned everything on at once....
