.. cos I can't begin to think how awesome/intuitive it'd be.

It wouldn't even have to utilize the nunchuck; there could be two equally effective control schemes. mostly point&go design if you don't have the nunchuck, and the camera could pull back to a higher angle. If you are doing some serious PVP's or hard quests, plug in a nunchuck and get that analog control. \

advantages to two-handed play - game battles could have far more depth with defensive styles/parrying/movement. game is meant to be played online w/ people, but when you are doing all that mundane lvl. up bllshit (ive been in this forest for weeks killing these damn boars) you can just use one hand:

Dpad up -= pulls up inventory

Dpad left/right -= scrolls through 3-4 'hot'-items. keys you picked up in the dungeon, anything you wish to set from inventory. (i like to think that you shoudl be limited to 2-3 items of your choosing at first. As you gain exp or levels or find rare items you shoudl be able to hold more... i just like making things harder for newbs i guess)

Dpad down -= switch back to last item or perhaps flip to main melee weapon. this should really be the most used of the dpad which shoudl spare people from stringing their little thumbs.

B - click; move (if playing w/ one hand); grab stuff; etc.

A - whatever. oh... hold and gesture to use different spells. Easy stuff, like raise up for healing, lower for cloaking/defense crap. these dont have to be too specific to the power because you can set everything from inventory.

i am at work, i'll elaborate further on my next break

but im sure everyone else has there own ideas.

While MMO games are good for the hardcore gamer, I think Nintendo would want less traditional, more pick-up-and-play online experiences.  Not that the Wii couldn't have both, of course.

Pokémon?  Animal Crossing?  I remember suggesting one based on A Link To The Past even before Four Swords Adventures came out.

If only the Miis had a bit more detail.  A MMO using Miis would feel limited as there will be a lot of people who look similar enough.  But then again a Wii MMO could have various types of clothing/armor or other identifiers specific to that game, instead of the game just being a glorified Mii Square.

We have to stop thinking of hardcore experiences and start thinking of more open, universal, casual-esque experiences.

Yes, WoW is awesome, but there can really only be one WoW, so it's almost futile to try to compete against it in the main MMORPG space.

Instead, Wii MMORPGs should differentiate themselves. They should be more like casual web games, they should integrate WiiConnect24's "alway's on" feature and they should integrate the Mii feature. They should be less about combat or raiding or hardcore achievements, and more about cooperation, socialization, and individual spaces and creativity.

...They should be more like Animal Crossing yes... and they should be more like Neopets.

*note: for the purposes of this post, limited ORPGs like Diablo, Guild Wars and PSO/ PSU are excluded*

I want a Hyrule MMORPG. Maybe that's not the best name for it, but I would like it set in that "time period" if you will, of swords, magic, and bows. The reason I say Hyrule MMORPG isn't best name because I think competing kingdoms would kick ass. so, it couldn't only be Hyrule

A social RPG would be cool too, like the Sims or something of that nature,  but just because you have one doesn't mean you can't have the other.

Edit: I also wanted to say that I would like the MMORPG to be set up like a computer game, with HUD's galore using the wii-mote as a mouse and the nunchuck as dirtectional keys.

I think the Wiimote has the potential to offer us the best MMO experiences ever created because it allows the skill of the user to play far more of a role than a random number generator which most MMOs function upon.

And yeah, Reggie mentioned that he wanted to see more done with MMORPGs on the Wii, but I've yet to see a followup indicating that anything is actually in the works.

Maybe it was just a passing comment?

I weep for you hardcore players who can't see the amazingly huge potential in casual MMORPG-ish games like Animal Crossing, Yohoho Puzzle Pirates, Neopets, Maple Story, etc.

Casual MMOs have their place, but I think the potential for the Wiimote reinventing the hardcore MMO market is very, very real.

I cream pants when I think about the potential of a Wiimote-driven MMO which uses the DND ruleset.

Picking locks with the Wiimote, backstabbing, picking pockets, swinging your weapon, casting spells by drawing the runes, blacksmithing weapons by hammering, sharpening weapons on a stone, etc.

Damn, it would be cool...

You forgot the biggest one of all...pantsing.

Imagine being an infamous prankster in an online world, going around pulling people's pants down. And you can use the controller and nunchuck to pull it off.
