So...isn't this bad news? We're not getting a completely original RE Wii? We're not getting RE 5? We're getting shafted by Capcom yet again?

I don't see any reason to feel positive about this, really.

A glooming peace this morning with it brings;
The sun, for sorrow, will not show his head:
Go hence, to have more talk of these sad things;
Some shall be pardon'd, and some punished:
For never was a story of more woe
Than this of Sega and her Mashiro.

This is basically Capcom once again sucking up to Sony and MS.

I mean, when it's freaking clear that the DS is a HUGE phenomenon around the world they are supporting the PSP like crazy. True, they are mostly ports, but you would think they would create ports for the most successful handheld in recent times.

RE5's scenario is absolutely disgusting, so I'd much rather take the RE2 with RE4 controls game... ^_^

You forgot RE0.

Remake is worth playing, so I'd recommend it (play at Jill). Zero can be skipped; it's fun, but not a necessity.

I haven't played 2, 3 or CV, but you can probably skip those as well.

My problem is, I assume Resident Wiivil will spoil the stories for the older games...and I like to experience stories in their original format first (reading the book before watching the movie and whatnot.) But I'm not sure I could slog through RE0 without 'type c' controls, or the other games with their craptacular graphics. I guess I'll try to get through them, and if I can't before ReWii, I'll go ahead and play it...

2's been on, like, every system at the time.  I remember rumours earlier this year of RE2 being remade for the PC.  It already was on the PC, but this is probably a remake.  (Why not, if it's been on everything, might as well be on everything again.)

I admit to being a latecomer to the RE series, mostly coming on board after the impulse purchase of "REmake".  I played 2 and 3 on the PC before playing 0 and 4 on the GameCube.  We've also got Code Veronica - it came with the Dreamcast my brother bought on eBay a few years ago.  (Not really sure why - I think he got it for Shenmue but he doesn't even play that much because he doesn't like some forklift race or something...)  For some reason I didn't get very far in Code Veronica and didn't care much for it...but maybe one of these days I'll try again, since I do like the series enough that I probably should.

I really liked 2 for some reason, perhaps that's why it was ported so much.  I'd recommend it.  3 wasn't as good though.  Since C:V isn't in this Umbrella Chronicles I'm wondering how important that story is, but from what I briefly glimpsed in a story FAQ I thought it would be important enough to mention...

Everthing between RE1 and RE4 isn't important.

Well, except for "Leon & Barry's Game Boy Color Love Boat Adventure Gaiden" WHICH SHOULD ABSOLUTELY BE INCLUDED AS A CHAPTER FOR THIS NEW Wii GAME.

Personally I'd say 3 and CV could be skipped. I mean both were alright but the ones that really shine are 0, REmake, 2 and 4. I have high hopes for this title and I can't wait to see a gameplay video.

I loved CV, it was the last game (until RE4) that had me say "wow oO" at the graphics.....I wonder why it isn't in this compilation though, seems odd.....

but yeah, 2 is a must

and the RE2 PC remake thing, was just an updated port, with better compatibility with newer PC and higer resolution everything (no idea if it was released though)

offtopic: the forklift race in Shenmue was great ^^

PORT. PORT PORT PORT. PORT PORT PORT PORT.

I'll take a wait and see stance. Just because they make x garbage games or x good games, doesn't mean the next will be a good game.

If the game is in first-person like it's rumoured to be, I find fixed camera angle to be impossible...
