Guitar. Hero. Wii.

I suppose this was inevitable - the wii is made for specialized controllers.

It's so nice to think NIntendo's next console won't be left out of stuff like this. I'm a bit ashamed to admit I've never played the original...but I'm really looking forward to losing my guitar hero virginity by rocking my wii soon.

Every next gen console? That's a LOT of shelf space needed for this junk! Get a real guitar instead.

Guitar Hero is the kind of game that belonds on the Wii.
I bet the Wii version will even sell the best.
I mean if you're a fan of Guitar Hero why buy the super-expensive high-end console made for uber-realistic graphics and expansive worlds when you can get it on a console for half the price with more than enough power for a rythm game?

Also, Nintendojo is reporting that Reggie says he's in talks to get GTA on the Wii.
Nothing confirmed but I think the chances are excellent with Reggie pushing for it and the controller being so perfectly suited for it as well.
Sounds like a lot of big third-party games that were left off the Cube may make it to the Wii.

Damn this is exciting. Guitar Hero is my favorite rythym game by far, so it's nice to see it branch out to new places. Not to mention, wireless guitar controllers for the Wii and (hopefully) downloadable songs! It's seems like it should be cheaper to make the Wii guitar controller than a 360 or PS3. The tilt sensor already exists (and will be way better) in the Wiimote, and the wireless broadcasting will already be done through the Wiimote. That really just leaves input from the five buttons and the whammy bar. Hopefully they charge a little less because it is easier/cheaper to produce.

That gave me an AWESOME idea for a game. The Wiimote could be used as a great musical instrument, with it's diversity. I really hope the Electroplankton guy makes a Wii game.

I didn't even think about that.
Instead of an entire guitar controller accessory they could just make a shell of sorts for the Wii-mote.
Who knows, maybe Nintendo will get involved and allow them to add a few Nintendo exclusive songs. Imagine a rock version of the Mario Bros theme.

How about this version we get more than guitars involved. Bass, Drums (that could be easy for the wii. Just link two controllers together), maybe even singing!!!

But just the announcement of Guitar Hero on the wii makes me giddy with excitement.

I would watch wanting to have more instruments.  A game like this can be easily muddled by those sort of things.

Anyways why use the Guitar Hero brand for that?

If you guys think that sounds fun, you should import Band Bros. for the DS.

As much fun as I think Guitar Hero could be on Wii, I'd probably get the Xbox 360 version instead.  In fact, in just about any case where a game is being ported without significant Wii enhancements, I'll probably opt for the Xbox 360 version.  Why?  ACHIEVEMENTS.  I can't live without them.

Nobody has said the Wii ain't having achievements, in fact I think the whole VC points thing is an indication that we will have achievements on the Wii games.

Great thought.  Wii interacting with Gamer Tags.  So not only your Vista and 360 achievements but you Wii achievements as well.

Turn around the Wiimote and slam it downward to simulate breaking your guitar on stage?

Hell yes.

How much you want to bet Activision/Red Octane will go the cheap way out and make a platform agnostic USB controller for all versions of Guitar Hero.

I'd like to see something along the lines of style points for the Wii version (assuming Wii counts as a "significant new platform").  The remote would fit inside either the neck or body of the guitar controller and the motion sensing would keep track of how you physically move during the game.  If you move along with the rhythm, or have lots of pizzazz during the solos, you'd get bonus points at the end of the song.  It seems like a interesting feature that would add something to the game that couldn't be done on the PS3/3 or 360
Why must all things be so bright? Why can things not appear only in hues of brown! I am so serious about this! Dull colors are the future! The next generation! I will never accept a world with such bright colors! It is far too childish! I will rage against your cheery palette with my last breath!

I don't know, I think "achievements" or points will be a lot harder to come by on Wii than on Xbox 360...unless it's like one point per achievement.  Do 500 things and buy an NES game!
That's my opinion, not yours.

I doubt we'll see "achievements" on the Wii. That's a hardcore gamer thing. Non-gamers would be scared away by it, and intimidated... and they'd be especially miffed if they couldn't get freebies because they,. being non-gamers, ain't that good at games...

I say the Wii's "achievements" should be free Wii Points for every purchase. 75 points for buying accessories, first or third party. 250 points when you buy a Wii carrying case. 50 points for each Wii game you buy. 20 points for buying other assorted Nintendo related goodies.etc. That's an even playing field for non-gamers, is an incentive to boost sales, and is a way to nickle and dime your customers to death invisibly.

Wii Points: the new air miles.

I second Band Bros. otherwise known as Daigasso!  It's my most played DS game by far and the expansion pack and full blown music editor is awesome.  Anytime ppl ask me at school what im playin i tell them its called Band Bros.........think Guitar Hero, and thats where they are like "oh sweet!"

I really hope Nintendo gets some Katamari, and Okami love too.
