Mii
« on: September 14, 2006, 06:50:44 PM »
I want to discuss Nintendos avatar creating system.  I love this idea and I think it will give the Wii a feel all its own.  When you want to send a friend a message you just pick his avatar out of a group, you don't have to sort through tons of names just look for him.  There also appears to be TONS of options for modification so noone will truly be the same.

Will everyone here make their avatar look like themselves or will you all be living out your e3 fantasies by making your Mii look like Reggie?  Playing friends would be a lot cooler when I can see their virtual face get the smackdown.

I will be a Mii of me lol...I would really like for the Wii to already include MiiMiyamoto, MiiIwata, MiiReggie, etc or at least get them through WiiConnect24, obviously we won't get their friend-codes but it would be cool to have them in our Mii-space.

You could just make them yourself.  You could make anyone.

You could make a profile Bush/Ben Affleck/Jack from Lost/your boss and precede to beat the living hell out of them in Wii boxing just for fun.

I really like the idea of being able to populate your friends Wii with your Mii. You could even use them to store your personal options with games on them! I am thinking something akin to Animal Crossing, only yor town is populated by your friends instead of animals... r a mix of the two.... lots of possabilities here.
Do, or do not. There is no try.

It's not about Wii, It's all abou Mii!

I hope the Mii peoples show up in Animal Crossing, and many other games and whatnot It would add a cohesive MMOG feel to the system. Very cool concept.

Miis are cool and all... but wouldn't their artistic style clash with any attempt to insert them into your average MMORPG or other game?

Kairon: The Mii is just a list of physical characteristics, so, in theory, a developer could probably manage to display Miis differently. Then again, I do not know how easy that would be.

I suppose Miis could be edited for different types of games...two problems, though:

1. body types would all be about the same (only fatter/thinner and taller/shorter)

2. facial features would be a little harder...you could try to come up with something, but since (to my understanding) people can make their own textures for the faces, you might be forced to just go with whatever textures are programmed into the Mii.  For example, if I can draw a bum and use that as the mouth for my Wii, then how would a facial-feature recognition engine interpret that?  Although it does look like there are height and widht limits on the features, so maybe it wouldn't be so hard.
That's my opinion, not yours.

Yeah, you're right Anyone EB.

Oh, and couch, Miis don't have fully user created textures. They just have options that the users turn on or off. Mustache? Yes or no. Which type of Mustache? Eye? Color? What level of height? What scale? etc. Think of The Sims 2, except with digital number based sliders. So don't worry about needing to have some fancy facial recognition thing.

It'd make you look like Nikki Lauda.

Everyone can already guess what my Miis will look like and there'll probably be a large overlap with Bill's.

And there is no Mii in Team! Which is why we're introducing Tiim.
