No SNK games for PS3 to 2009-2010
« on: August 02, 2006, 03:05:01 AM »
SNK to hold off on PS3 development until 2009-2010. Too risky and low volume according to SNK.

The Wii however WiiLL be getting Metal Slug Anthology.

Quote

A Metal Slug Anthology, based on the popular 2D shoot-'em-up, is already planned, and SNK president Ben Herman said the company wanted to use the Wii controller "in a new and unique way that enhances the gameplay".

Wow, I guess they really think it'll take that long for a decent userbase.

If Sony consoles had five-year lifespans like Nintendo's, then we should've already seen the PS3 late last year and by 2010, they would be gearing up for the PS4.

Imagine someone saying they supported the N64 and GameCube only in the last year of their "lives".  o_0  Who would do that?  (Oh, wait, Eidos is putting out Tomb Raider: Legend for the GameCube still...)

SNK was a great supporter of 2D games.  You think Sony would even want SNK?  Metal Slug is cool (even if most games are very similar).  I also wouldn't mind if KoF stayed in 2D a little longer - KoF 2006 and the Maximum Impact games - the ones in 3D - don't look very good.

Nintendo + SNK = better combo than Sony + SNK.

WOHOO!
I Love SNK and I Love the fact that they are backing Nintendo this gen and giving the shaft to Sony.
If SNK is holding off PS3 development till 2009/2010 that means that King of Fighters 2007 & 2008 could be Wii exclusives! (well maybe Wii and 360)

unless it means SNK might support the VC.

Easy money.  Yeah if it's easy this probably means that SNK will support VC.  There holding off on the PS3 because of developement costs and the VC will have only the developement of getting the emulator to work if need be and fixing glitches.  So this bodes well for that possibility.

This very good news for me!! The ONLY reason I bought a PS2 was to get my 2D fighter fix (import PS2). Now there is absolutely no reason whatsoever to even look at a Sony system. SNK has always been my fav when it comes to fighting games. This gen is going to own KOFXII GET!!!!!! WII EXCLUSIVE!!!!
Currently Playing: Twilight Princess(Wii), Castlevania: PoR(DS), Mario vs. Donkey Kong2(DS), Wii sports(Wii)
Anticipating: Mario Galaxy(Wii), Blue Dragon(360), Dragon Quest:Swords(Wii), Dragon Quest IX (DS)

I'm guessing we won't see an Midway or Namco arcade compilations on the PS3 either.
