Hudson Takes Flight on Revolution
« on: April 18, 2006, 07:35:46 PM »
A press release from the E3 folks reveal something's up at Hudson Soft.

Earlier today, the E3 Expo people issued a press release with some "First Looks" at games that will be revealed at the show, taking place next month in Los Angeles.  At first glance, it appeared to be just another generic release, but further down the page was this little number:

 "Flight Game" - Nintendo Revolution
Take to the skies in a way never before experienced on any home console. Using the Revolution's "Gesture System" built into their innovative controller, Hudson's new "Flight Game" allows total plane control as players pilot their planes through various acrobatic flight maneuvers ranging from sky artistry to bomb drops.

It couldn't be any more clear: Hudson is working on a Revolution game, and it'll be shown at E3 in three weeks' time.  Much like the name of the console itself, the title of this game, "Flight Game," looks to be a placeholder until Hudson comes up with a proper moniker for its title.

Back at the Tokyo Game Show unveiling of the Revolution controller in September of 2005, the controller hands-on that was granted to select media outlets included a plane demonstration.  In the demo, the player held the Revolution controller like a paper airplane and manuvered it around in space, which caused the plane on-screen to manuver in a similar manner.  This as-of-yet untitled Hudson game may be similar to this demo, or may in fact be an entirely different game altogether.

"Flight Game" will be at E3, and perhaps even have a real title.  PGC will also be there with all the details!

WE already know the Rev can detect the controller's position in 3d space.  That's the "gesture system."  So no that isn't the secret.

If this isn't the new Pilotwings, and there IS a new Pilotwings in development, then this game is, how you say...screwed.  Well, unless it launches like a year apart from Pilotwings.

I want Pilotwings!
That's my opinion, not yours.

"Planes" and "bomb drops" says "Sup, this isn't the Pilotwings game you are looking for!"

But I'm sure Pilotwings is still being dev'd somewhere...

I'm wishing it's competition to Namco's "Ace Combat", I would instantly get it, obviously only if it looked decent enough for purchase.

i wouldn't count out that this is pilotwings.

Remember how Namco took control of Star Fox Assault
Remember how Rare took control of Star Fox Adventures
Remember how Sega took control of F-zero GX
Remember how Namco took control of Mario Kart GP
Remember how Capcom took control of Zelda oracle of ages/seasons

This very well be Pilotwings but under control Hudson since Nintendo is busy with Mario, Metroid and finishing up Zelda Twilight Princess so their hands may be full...

Well I believe that was Flagship, which is a different situation.
Hudson sucks, so I hope they're not working on a Nintendo franchise (poor Mario Party).

But Hudson makes Bomberman! Oh wait...Bomberman sucks...well they made Bloody Roar...which also basically sucked. Here's to hope they're not making Pilotwings!
