SSX On Tour
« on: October 19, 2005, 11:51:06 AM »
I picked up the new SSX yesterday. The whole 'rocker style' they went with is pretty innovative, and the intro/menus will win some kind of award this year (if there is such a thing). I only played for around an hour, but making your own rider and then racing with them is pretty cool. I think they set the difficulty a bit low to start because I was absolutely crushing the initial set of checkpoints/races in the Tour section. When doing a quick race, you can race as the known SSX riders (and Mario and gang) but I think that's the only place where you can race with them. You still get cash (and from even more sources now, like during a race) and the shops have loads of items again. Overall, it looks like a great continuation of the series.

So from what you're saying, "story" mode is done entirely with player-made characters?  I like the crazy characters in SSX, so I'm not sure I like that.  I'm still pretty interested in this one because of the flagrant use of Mario.
That's my opinion, not yours.
Now Playing: The Adventures of Link, Super Street Fighter 4, Dragon Quest IX

I was going to buy it.

Then I saw on the back '2 Player Simeltaneous'

Then put it back.

Kenny:
I have both Tricky and SSX3 for GC, and had an absolute blast with both so the progression was smooth for me. Maybe try SSX3 first and see if you like it, since it is going for such a low price (< $20). As far as music, SSX3 has more of a mix of rock/electronica/hiphop, where SSX: OT is definitely more rock-ish.

I loved the original characters too... I know they're under the Quick race mode section but I haven't played it much more since my last post (it looks like that's the only place they are).

I didn't think I even had 59 blocks free on my card, but it is saving/playing fine for me.  I should check to see how many it actually uses.
