Touching is Good Website Opens
« on: March 29, 2005, 07:14:44 PM »
Nintendo wants to see pictures of your hand touching... stuff.  (No, it's not what you think.)

Nintendo of America just opened up a new website for those DS owners wanting to show off their artistic side, and if you think you can touch the hearts and minds of Nintendo, you might win some serious loot.

Those who think touching is good can submit photographs or short videos showing off a mannequin hand "touching" various objects.  Some of the first photos on the site show off the hand pressing down the accelerator of a car, or the same hand "bouncing" a basketball.  The videos are even more bizzare, with one of them showing the hand unrolling toilet paper (a la WarioWare Touched!), and yet another lying in wait in a mound of cantelopes at a supermarket.

From now until May 6, photo and video entries can be submitted to the site, and the top three entries as selected by Nintendo will recieve some Nintendo DS loot and cash prizes, with $1,000 going to the winner.

For more info on the contest, and to see the crazy stuff Nintendo already has on the site, check out touchingisgood.com.

Somebody at Nintendo must really want to see lots and lots of amateur R-rated movies.

Nintendo is giving away free mannequin hands.  I fail to see how this is a bad thing.

Edit 1:Wait... I sign in but it keeps giving me this error message "Your request could not be received because your session has timed out. Please close all browser windows, and try again to proceed with an active session."  I've tried in mozilla and internet explorer and I get the same thing.  What's up with that?  I want free mannequin hand.

Edit 2:Nevermind, it randomly works now.  Free mannequin hand for me! :'D

Sounds like a plan, KDR.  Have it rocket off into the sky, and maybe if we're lucky it'll hit someone on the way down.  Funny pain scores major points.

This is an awesome idea, though, I can't wait to see what sort of stuff they get.  For now, I am so registering for getting a free hand.

My hand is on its way!
I have some ideas, but nothing too crazy yet.  Maybe something to do with a famous landmark...

This is such a wonderful idea! I tried to get the free hand, but no.... I live in Canada, so they don't accept me. I'm misunderstood.

So I guess that I too would be out of luck.  I'm going have to give Nintendo the finger for not giving me a hand.

"I'm thinking "Rocket propelled touch-hand", who's with me?"

Yeah, paint it white and slam it into some Nintendo action figures. And then maybe edit a rising percentage into the video.

"playing a PSP."

Or destroying it.

my hand came to day and its really creepy to see how long those fingers are on this thing lol.  Now all i need is some more ideas....
Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I'll put it this way.... i didn't check the site for a few days, so I came home from picking up pizza when I see this tiny box on the ground.  Hmm.... Nintendo...what did they send me?   I opened it up and was freaked out that not only did I receive a scary plastic hand, but the fact it was from Nintendo and there was no explanation other than a white piece of paper that had the DS logo and touchingisgood.com on it.

How did I get one without requesting one?   It is because I'm registered with myNintendo?

That's pretty funny.  I wonder if anyone else got one without requesting it?  I can imagine how weird that must be.

Maybe someone was playing a joke on you?  'I'm gonna send him a hand and see if he freaks out!'  Hmmm... it does sound like a good idea...

Hmm, my mannequin hand actually shipped yesterday...

Somehow I didn't believe that was actually going to happen.

Wow.  I feel lucky.  I ordered it on day one, received an e-mail confirmation on day two, and UPS delivered it on day six.

I still haven't gotten around to taking any pictures yet, but I plan to.

Got mine within a week. Haven't taken any pics either. Right now it's cradling my Spice controller, waiting for its closeup.
