Snagging a GC with Smash Bros Melee and Soul Calibur II is a lot of fun for the money. Both those games are 20 bucks or less.

Yes.  Definetly get RE4 if you can.

The cube has tons of great action and fighting games, also if you like RE4 you might also want Eternal Darkness.
Also another, good game if you like fighters might be Viewtiful Joe.

A 251 memory card should do just fine.  There is a card that holds 1000+, but I think that a 251 should be enough, and it costs less.  The 59 slot memory card is hardly enough for anything.

and make sure to pick up Zelda Wind Waker and Metroid Prime if you get round to it, both games available for around 20 bucks, and real classics, excellent and still amazing

If you are short on money, I would recommend buying one at a time and possibly trying out (or at least reading reviews) games before you buy them to see if you like them.
To find reviews go to www.metacritic.com Find a game and Metacritic will display a big list of links to reviews of that game from all the major publications.

EDIT: If you love fighting games the GCN has good ones like Mortal Kombat Deception and Soulcalibur 2, and Super Smash Bros. which is non-traditional but probably better than them all. However for traditional fighting games PS2 is definately the best with exclusives like Virtua Fighter 4 and Tekken 5.
However overall you can't go wrong with either system, there are tons of good games for both.

Viewtiful Joe 2
Tekken 4
Metroid Prime
Resident Evil 4 (is a great one!!)
Batista vs HHH for the World Title at Wrestlemania 21!!

Piper's Pit: Piper vs The Rattlesnake

Mr. Madison, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
