France console sales, over a million GC's!

newtechnix has reported software sales for the year 2002 in France,

Gamecube - over 1.1 million games sold
Xbox - over 500,000 games sold

It doesnt say ps2 numbers though, but it says ps2 sales are strong. Also, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Smash Bros Melee were two of the highest selling games last year in France. I want to translate the whole article, but i dont think the mods would like that.

That is really amazing considering GCN has supposedly only sold 8 mil. worldwide.

Are these numbers for real? GCN's supposed to have sold 1.5 million in all of Europe. Does this mean that only 400,000 GCN's have been sold elsewhere? That's weird.

maybe its a shipped number.  or maybe the rest of europe just doesnt like the cube much and france loves it for some reason.

Well, you know what they say about the French:

Whoever "they" are, I'm not sure why they would say what they say about the French in French.  Hmm...I hadn't thought about that before typing it.  Ah well.

Or, as Ben Franklin said (some say old Tom Jefferson said it, but I wasn't actually there, so...), "Every man has two countries, and one of them is France."  

Maybe Nintendo should buy France.  And then they could change their name to "Le Nintendo" or "L'Enfantin."  Just kidding on that last one.  If you're wondering what it means, look at the word long enough and it'll come to you.  ;-)  Okay, I'm going to stop now.

Well you know what they say about game_freak333 and reading comprehension.

I didn't actually check out the link before but ... uh. DOOFUS!. It's not 1.1mill GC's, it's 1.1mill games for GC. That's still impressive compared to Xbox's 500k. But it's not hardware, it's software. Again. DOOOOOOFUS.

I can imagine what Bill Gates would do to get people to buy more XBOX software:

Simple!!! Get someone to sound and look like Jerry Lewis in advertising. Afterall, the French do love Jerry Lewis movies.

I'd act out a little commercial if I was more sure of who Stiller is. Wasn't he Costanza's dad in Seinfeld?
