i just got my january issue of NP, and inside is a rip out poster,  (which i managed to prett much destroy trying to get it OUT of my magazine, the poster has every pokemon on it. all 300something...

i'm thinking about getting into the pokemon games. i did play pokemon red way back in the day but don't have the cartridge anymore.  Can anyone tell me or recoment a good site that can give me the following info.

do i need to buy every pokemon game to collect every pokemon? do the new fire red and leaf green contain special new pokemon? is it worth it to start playing pokemon this far into the series?

lets see, to get all the pokemon you need to trade between all the GBA version and Pokemon Colloseum.  But you can't trade between Ruby, Sapphire and Colloseum until after you beat the Elite 4 and Champion, and you get the required items to allow trading.  The only special pokemon I can think about being in FireRed and LeafGreen are the Gold and Silver, Crystal ? pokemon that if not found in the wild, are traded from Colloseum.  If you don't know anyboy who has either version and you want them all then you will have to buy all versions, have two GBA's and the wireless adapters for FireRed and LeafGreen, and a link cable to link to Ruby and Sapphire, I don't think the Wireless adapters work with Ruby and Sapphire.

And whether or not it's worth starting playing now is up to you, really.  I didn't play a Pokemon game until Ruby and Sapphire.

I stopped try to capture all the Pokemon way back in Gold and Silver *L* I just decided to capture the ones I liked and train them. It's a lot less stressful than going through a lot of convoluted methods to get certain Pokemon. (Such as Espeon, which you have to train an Eevee in Red/Green, then transfer to Ruby/Sapphire and evolve it during the day.)

ah ha, i like the idea of just raising the ones i like. i went out and bought ruby last nite. i'm hoping that sometime in the future when we get a full 3d pokemon, it'll be online and i'll be able to upload my pokemon somehow. i'm thinking revolution >ds>gba cart.
