Anyone have some tips for completeing collecting the artifacts?  And the map screen doesnt show where they are, or even the area where they are.  Even the info you get from scanning is very vague.  Any tips for keeping the mindless searching to a minimum?

At the Cradle, there are clues to their wherabouts.  Scan the holographic chozo heads on the concentric pillars to get the clues.  Only seven will be shown if you never collected an artifact before reaching the Cradle, you'll have to return after collecting a few to get the clues for the remaining four.  Artifact #12 will be smack-dab in the middle of the Cradle.

yea, I have read those, but they arent much help.  Oh well, looks like I am in for hours of searching.  Its fun searching though, the differant areas are very fun to explore, and look at.

If you go to the Chozo Temple and scan the chozo faces around the ring, they pretty much tell you what rooms the artifacts are located in. When you get to the rooms try to find the low humming sound.

Or find a walkthrough

EDIT: Whoops! didn't notice that was already mentioned....disregard!

I guess they did give pretty good hints as to where to go.  Just gotta look over the map and look for that key word they give you.  I have most of the artifacts, but some I havent been able to get yet.  Like on Phendrana (sp?)  Edge, you are supposed to look for the unscene entrance, but I have yet to find an artifact there.  Maybe I dont have something yet that I will need to get it?

I think you need to use the x-ray visor in Phendrana's Edge. Look for invisible platforms or suspicious walls with space behind them.

Any tips for defeating Prime?  That metal bird dude was pretty tough, took me a few time to defeat him.  But Prime is crazy.  Granted, I am about 3 engergy tanks short, I know its possible to find them all without a guide, but I must have missed a few.  Anyway, I tried twice so far, and died both times, and Prime didnt even have half his energy down.  So, and battle tips would be appreciated.

First Prime or Second Prime? Bug or the Metroid?

Make sure those big energy ball things he fires don't hit you.  Shoot them down for missile/energy recharge.  Very nice.  Also try to avoid the freeze beam he fires along the ground.  If you do get hit, get the hell out as soon as possible.  The tractor beam is also a pain although not to hard to get out of.  Just shoot him in the eyes.  I personally use super missiles when he turns orange (power beam).  They do a decent amount of damage and are homing.

If you're fighting the second half, get all the big energy refills scattered around the joint.  Don't collect more then you need though or you will just waste them.  Ignore the normal metroids for as long as possible.  Concentrate all your fire power on the prime.

Hope I helped.

In one of the earlier research rooms in the Mines area, destroy a slightly tall column/containment unit in the center of the room using a Super Missile.  This column should be surround by computers.  It's not the same column where the Experimental Pirate broke out of, but it's very similar to that, and not as deep into the facility.

In Phendrana Drifts, visit the rooftop double-tower area where you always fight the Flying Pirates (has elevators on both ends).  You'll notice a couple towers in the background that are not accessible from this roof.  Goto the area(s) above one of the elevator doors that lets you see one of the towers thru its skinny window (kinda like a World War II bunker).  This window does not have any glass to block your weapons fire.  You should be able to shoot a Super Missile at the base of the distant tower thru this window.  The Scan visor might detect a weakness in the tower.

haha, so i wasn't able to get the last two artifacts by the time i had to return the game. so i ending up buying metroid prime at walmart for 19 bucks. only problems is seem my action replay doesn't seem to work with this copy of the game. but be updated or something. i suppose i will now have to buy a freeloader so i can get the latest codes,

so far i have gotten the artifact that you have to knock down the tower for in phendrana, i went  down to the mines and found the room i think i'm supposed to go to, with the laser thing that blasts pieces of wall away. the only problem was it looks like i allready got that artifact. is there anyway i can find a guide that tells me specifically where to find each NAMED artifact, i can not seem to find this last one. perhaps i am experiancing a glitch with my action replay and will need to start this damn game all over.

1.  Ditch the action replay.

2.  The Laser room is only good for a Missile upgrade, I think.  The Artifact is located earlier than that.  Goto an earlier cylindrical room, and use Super Missiles or Power Bombs.

Go to the bottom level of that multi-level room (if you're on the laser platform just jump down), where the Elite is in a big case. Power bomb the base, beat the Elite, and get an artifact. And yeah, don't use an action replay.

I've beaten the game, twice now, only have extra items and maybe a scan or two to get (though I think I missed one early on.  Crap).  Anyway, I have a question regarding scans: why is it that when you beat Metroid Prime and save after the credits, it doesn't save the scans you acquired?  I mean, I scanned those phazon lizards, the fission metroids, and both forms of Prime, but playing through it again I had to re-scan all of them?  What's up with that, and how do I keep my Prime scans?

Prime suffers from "Acute Gameoveritis"...Anything that happens between your last save and the end of the game isn't saved...Most games have this "problem"...

Hostile, if you have the patience to complete the Wind Waker gallery, even with the ability to carrry over figurines from your last game, one would think that this wouldn't bother you too badly
