TalkBack / Re: New Zelda Game Heading to 3DS
« on: November 06, 2011, 12:41:06 PM »
I feel like a majority of these comments are expressing that they actually WANT voice acting in Zelda. I really thought there was a bit more skepticism in that area of Nintendo games, especially Zelda. I guess I'm wrong though..

But regarding the voice acting, here's what's wrong with that, (not everyone's opinion, but the idea itself) people are going to bitch. Whether you like it or not, you know this to be true. Don't forget about Other M.

Now, where do I stand on voice acting in one of Nintendo's most iconic series? Well allow me let you down softly. I personally, do NOT want Link to be voiced by anyone. Not even someone that was handpicked by Miyamoto-san himself.

Now, before any of you reply in rage, please let me explain myself. I genuinely feel like there is so much mystery to the character that is Link, and that the mystery is a good thing. And I never want that taken away, nor do I want someone to say, "Hey, here's who link is, here's what WE say he should sound like, and any particular view or characterization you might of had of him, is irrelevant now."

I don't know about you, but I would politely tell that person to F' off. As gamers, I feel we are entitled to our own artistic license. In other words, we should be able to imagine something in the way WE want to, not the way we are instructed to. Don't tell me how Link "should" sounds like, because he's never not had a voice to me.

Now as far as the world Link explores, and the people he interacts with. I am not against that. Some people might use the same argument I expressed above for the supporting cast of Zelda, but for me personally, I wouldn't mind those people being voiced. It would solve one problem discussed above "reading while cut-scenes are happening." You wouldn't have to worry about that anymore. Because A. Those people would have voice acting, and B. Link wouldn't be talking anyways.

That is one option I see as a possible win for both sides. Anything else seems unfair, and an insult to us as fans. "You're not smart enough to imagine the character of Link, so hey! We'll do it for you!"

Don't want to be a kill joy, but no thank you.

If anyone is curious about Balloon Kid, imagine Balloon Fight as a platformer and then ask yourself if that would a good thing.

Ahaha! My thoughts exactly. Looking at a youtube video, I can see my thumbs getting worn out in about 10 mins.

There's nothing here that interests me. When are they gonna put up things from the SNES? (And you can't say the 3DS doesn't have the ability to handle it because if the Game Boy Advanced could than the 3DS can). I only ask because I'd love for Super Mario World to be put on there. (That was and is one of my all time favorites. I could sit there and play it for hours. I have it on the Wii, but I'd love to have it on the 3DS as well.)

About your SNES games on the 3DS point. Of course the 3DS can handle it. That's not the issue. I mean, the DS could handle it, and just like you stated earlier, the GBA could as well. So why would its newer hand-held counterparts have a problem?

Here's the thing about having SNES games on the system right now. Despite the ambassador NES games, this is still a "hand-held". Which is more likely to get "hand-held" VC games, rather than console VC games like on the Wii.

And yes, I know the Wii VC is experiencing a long drought, but it's still there, and the games are still available to purchase. That being said, I don't think we should expect to see SNES games become downloads anytime soon. GBA ports, such as Mario Bros. 3, (which if you're a 3DS Ambassador, you are getting) could be the closest thing we see to SNES games on the 3DS.

A little late, but I'll take it. Maybe with this update I can play games like DoA more regularly with friends. Good thing it's going to be here for Mario Kart 7 though, people would be ready to kill if they couldn't get their games going.

Now this looks like a game that was well thought out. I remember hearing about this and only seeing the concept art, and a few screens, but it really looks like it's coming together. More games like this please people who aren't Nintendo. There's a lot of wallets full of cash, just give us a reason for that cash to reach your pockets!

I also saw Arc of Sinners and thought "Wow!" But then I saw a review saying the game was broken and unresponsive in many places, and quite frequently glitching up. I really wish there was a demo I could try out to see these things myself, I'm not willing to risk 1000 wii points to do that sadly.

ON a side note, burger time looks like a good time! I think I might get that with my leftover 3DS points from my Mario Land 2 purchase.

Nintendo Gaming / Re: Pokemon Gray website had been registered.
« on: October 19, 2011, 07:39:45 PM »
I know there was talk about there NOT being a 3rd game to this collection on the DS, and maybe that's still very true. However, no one said anything about the 3DS.

Taking a second look at this, and the ports the 3DS has been getting, it would make perfect sense to kick off the Pokemon 3DS RPG series this way. A game that, for the most part, already has it's framework built. Now, the only thing I would have a question about if that were the case is, would a 3DS release be a direct DS port of Black/White? Or would it be a graphical overhaul of the series, with character models similar to the  Pokedex 3D app.?

Then again, maybe this domain name was registered just for the sake of being registered, and not allowing a independent fan game mod to surface.

Wow, this game looks like a good time.

I've heard some good things about WayForward, but having these be games made for the Eshop.. I kinda question the quality. Maybe it's just because I've never actually downloaded a game in this sorta way. It's always been in-store and a retail copy that I could hold in my hands. I just wish there was a way to try a game out before spending bills on it. But this really does look good, I'm impressed.

TalkBack / Re: 3DS Ambassador Confirmation Tool Available Now
« on: August 19, 2011, 10:26:33 PM »
For (at least) North America, DO NOT enter the last digit of your serial number (the one in the square box) into the toolbar. If you enter every letter/number of your serial, it tells you that you aren't eligible, but without that last one, it tells you that you are. I'm gonna call NoA to make sure I'm squared away even though it told me that I was eligible.

I'm confused... I entered EVERY digit and got the confirmation. I don't understand your argument. I also don't understand how it's possible to get the confirmation without every character typed in. Anyways, go ahead and call, but it worked for me. I think everyone should just type the number as they see it; then call Nintendo if it doesn't work out.

Uhm........

Hey! Is there anyway you can redeem your Elite status for another year where the prize isn't a collection of pins?

I don't want to sound like I'm totally against a price drop... but I kinda am. I think it's all fair and good to lower this systems price point, but not at this very moment.

People like me, who went to launch and picked the 3DS up, had to pay 250 big ones (plus state tax for me.) It doesn't really seem fair to be honest, with what I call our "Nintendo dedication." I mean look, we bought the system with half of it missing. We didn't have the Internet browser at launch, and we certainly didn't have the eShop. I think that's a big deal, and I wouldn't feel too great to know that I bought this thing at launch for nothing. Granted, it was MY choice to pick the system up right away.

So If this pending price drop does happen, and the unite lowers to the price it was probably supposed to be at from the start, I would like to get something out of owning a 3DS before hand. A couple of free eShop purchases would only scratch the surface, but I would welcome them nonetheless. I'm just saying, anything to show some fan appreciation for the 3DS shouldn't be too much to ask with a price drop of the unit so early. It's in poor taste in my opinion to not offer at least some sort of promotion to current owners if it takes affect.

Anyways, I really think this is a possibility and that's why I took the time to share some initial thoughts. Hey, maybe they should go ahead and sell people the 2DS? I'm sure they could cut the systems selling point by at least 50 bucks with that. ^ ^

Well.... I was recording some video earlier today, and something interesting caught my eye.

Recognize anyone here?

It's NWR's very own Johnathan Metts and James Jones! (I'm not sure.. but is that Neal behind them?

Haha, I also see a few other people from the Nintendo journalism world. Anyways, you're probably wondering why everyone is raising their hands with such enthusiasm, especially Mr. James Jones. Well, Mr. Miyamoto addressed the crowed at Nintendo's Round-table, asking who was using StreetPass.

Btw, everyone in attendance who had their 3DS's and StreetPass on got Mr. Miyamoto's Mii! So I hope this gets brought up in the Podcast, because that's a pretty awesome thing to have! Also, it's cool seeing the NWR cast there.

It's EST over here in DC BTW, In case you were wondering about that.

Also, best wishes to you as you recover from your surgery. You're a real trooper Zach, and I'm sure everyone who listens to Newscast on here really missed your presence on the show this week.

I'm not very good, but I really want to test how well the online is with friends that you add, versus the whole random battle option.

Wishing you a safe procedure and fast recovery Zach! You make NWR Newscast always a treat to listen to, and I find myself laughing in public every now and then; either while I'm shopping, or just going for a walk you always give me a few reasons to smile.

Anyways, I really hope you get some well deserved rest, and get back into the thick of things as soon as you're able.

Also! Dead or Alive Dimensions will be out by then, and it's 4D awaits your return!

Haha, take care. =)

Nintendo Gaming / Re: 3ds scratching itself
« on: May 15, 2011, 02:48:29 PM »
@Kwolf- Thanks, I'll look at that then.

I don't know, I don't think we should need to worry about protecting a closed system to begin with; It's sorta ridiculous.

Nintendo doesn't package screen protectors with their hand-held's, and we should manage to get by with the bare minimum. That being the packaged product given to us by Nintendo.

And if this is a mark coming from the fact that the bottom screen isn't the same width as the top screen, can we truly protect our system? Overtime, wont these indentations just become deeper to the point where they actually tear the screen protectors? it's not the screen protectors job to ford away endured stress on the screen via these protruding indents. Meaning, it wouldn't be the screen protector manufactures fault if these markings persist, it is at the end of the day, an overlooked issue by Nintendo. (At least I hope it is, I wouldn't feel too great knowing I put down 250+tax for a mistake they knew about.)

Anyways, I guess I'm gonna be doing some unnecessary maintenance to keep my system in check. I don't see any of these reported scratches yet, but It's not like I've been opening and closing my system too much to begin with. Don't laugh at me, but I'm thinking of leaving my 3DS open at this point, but in all honesty, the hinges are probably going to wear out from something like that. I don't know, this is just really disgusting to hear.

(Hmmm... I think I'm gonna send this to RFN or the News cast... it be interesting to hear their thoughts on the matter.)

Whoa!! Thanks for the heads up man. I've been meaning to buy screen protectors for a while... but not having any games as of right now, I didn't think I really needed them.

Does anyone have any recommendations on where to buy 3DS screen protectors, or which brand you all are using?

General Gaming / Report: Hackers plan third attack on Sony

Another Hacking Problem For Sony?

image removed by the evil censors*

I know there have already been rumors about this, but here is some information to feed this one.

A report by Cnet indicates that hackers are planning out another massive attack to be directed at Sony. The claim was made by a viewer of a chat channel, where hackers were supposedly planning out an attack being executed this weekend. Whether this is just someone trying to draw attention to themselves, or a true report, it wouldn’t be unthinkable at this point.

As of right now, it is uncertain whether or not these suspected hackers are with the  group know as, “Anonymous”, who have, “for the record”, stated that they had no involvement in the attacks that brought the PlayStation Network down this past April. (Which is supposed to be back up sometime this week if all goes to plan.) It has also been reported that said hackers, already have access to Sony servers, and have threatened to release the personal information they may find during their raid on Sony.

I guess that’s it for now, all you Sony users be weary. It may just be a scare, but we will have to wait to find out.
