Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo merchandise (Mugs, etc). Where to buy?
« on: June 04, 2012, 11:31:45 PM »
I've always wonder is there an online store that sells official Nintendo merchandise such as mugs, t-shirts, etc? I've seen some shirts in places like JCPenny but it's usually just t-shirts but nothing outside of that. I'd be more likely to buy something if I could take my time to look at a selection and buy when the desire hit me.

Thanks

General Gaming / Jumping into Uncharted (PS3 - Dual Pack)
« on: October 13, 2011, 12:31:35 AM »
The dual pack for Uncharted has been on sale at Best Buy for a week or two I think. It's been going for $25 instead of $40. Same for Resistance (1 and 2 combo).  I picked up the Uncharted combo today. Almost for the hell of it. I had been interested in the game for a while but didn't think I'd like it enough to justify the price. Didn't have it locally for me to rent either. Interested but not enough to go out of my way to play it. For the price I figured why not.

Downloaded the updates and DLC that came with the game. After that I jumped into one multiplayer games. in Uncharted 2. A deathmatch just to see how it was like and if I would get any play out of it. Did horribly. Only two kills the entire match however that one match answered a lot of questions I had about the game. Mainly regarding how it played and how multiplayer would actually work in the game with it being a 3rd person shooter. I really liked how it played based on the little I tried. Easy to get behind cover. Shooting looks like it will take some work. Though not sure if it's all about catching someone from behind or not. How fluid my character moved was nice.

Not sure if I'll get into the multiplayer but it's different from the other shooters I've been playing. Might end up being the change I've been looking for.

I played part Uncharted 1.  At the start of the 2nd chapter. At least that's how I think it's setup. The area right after the beginning mode stage. Okay so far. Doesn't look as good as I expected but Uncharted 1 is several years old now. Uncharted 2 clearly looked better from the multiplayer I played. Looking forward to playing more after work tomorrow.

General Gaming / No longer finding competitive online fun. Anyone else?
« on: September 25, 2011, 10:46:34 AM »
Came to a conclusion this weekend that caused me to cancel my pre-order for Battlefield 3. I simply no longer care about competitive online play. As far as action goes anyway. Racing against others still is fun and I think is the most fair out of all the genres that have competitive multiplayer. It's just as relaxing to me as single player play. So that might be the only exception.

I guess my focus on it in recent years was an attempt to be apart of the crowd. Connect with other gamers. Also it could be a general acceptance and attempt to deal with the direction the gaming industry was headed in. Being primarily a single player gamer for years (RPGs and Platformers) the focus on multiplayer was something I didn't care for until I got into MMORPGs. However that was cooperative primarily and I could ignore PvP if I didn't want to take part. I tired of compromising what I'm really interested in to be honest in the end. That's not to say I didn't enjoy myself when I play Call of Duty, etc. I just don't want to do it anymore going forward.

This thankfully will save me a LOT of money as I take a pass on some of these games and spend more time on MMO ($15 a month is cheaper then several $60 or less games a month or every other month). Or I could wait until some of these upcoming games are dirt cheap just so I can experience the single player game.

Anyone else find they are tired of the competitive scene? Adjusting around it? Cooperative > competitive?

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo Show 3D
« on: September 01, 2011, 05:52:49 PM »
Nintendo has added a brand new weekly (I think) show to the eShop. Similar in setup to the Nintendo Week show on the Nintendo Channel on the Wii it seems it's designed to discuss the latest 3DS releases and news. It's hosted by a woman name Jessie Cantrell (who is quite charming :) ). It's presentation is more professional then the somewhat corny but still fun Nintendo Week.

The first episode covered
- Star Fox 64 3D
- Zelda Annivseary (from the concert to Skyward Sword bundle)
- top Nintendo GameBoy/Gameboy color games as well as 3D Classics
- Nintendo Video service
- Ambassador games.
- The intro to Star Fox 64 3D was shown as well.
- A two short clips where shown at the end. One of pigs and another of a guy trying to put with the ball coming towards the screen several times.

On the whole I really liked it. It would be nice if this was apart of the Nintendo Video service instead though. Perhaps up the slots to 5 and dedicate one just for this show.

Nintendo Gaming / New North America 3DS Commercials
« on: August 13, 2011, 03:13:21 PM »
These were posted on Nintendo of America's YouTube channel.

Also on Nintendo.com they're listing the Wii (both colors), 3DS (all three colors), and DS (shows the DSLite, DSi, and DSi XL together) as separate units in an image. Not lumping the 3DS in with the DS. You have to click the "Expand to view hardware" link.

Are these the game games or is there a difference between the two versions?

Nintendo Gaming / Pandora's Tower - Video Trailer

Thanks to the folks at NeoGaf for linking to this video.

It seems it's being released in May 2011. The developer appears to be Ganbarion (One Piece Wii games, JUMP Super Stars). That game also has a nice God of War, Devil May Cry, Kid Icarus Uprising (had to add a Nintendo game to the mix) feel to it I think. One more to add to the list of "will it or won't it be released outside of Japan" list.

Personally I think the game looks fine. Want to see a better quality video but don't have any issues with how it looks.
