Well, in comparison to the games I listed - Soul Calibur/Edge, Street Fighter, Tekken and Virtua Fighter - it certainly is.

You only really needed to use the A & B button but for those who perhaps took the game a bit more seriously may find some depth to the 'system'.

Either way, I do appreciate just about every game bar a few on the list that NWR gathered together.

That is the most interesting, informative and enjoyable article I have read on a (videogame) website in a long time even though I expected all 18 games to be mentioned on the list at some point. Although I didn't think the GameCube offered the diversity and arguably, quality the PS2 offered it still managed to release at least five games that are probably my all time favourite experience on any system.

I never did enjoy the very shallow Super Smash Bros. Melee (Soul Calibur/Edge, Street Fighter, Tekken, Virtua Fighter are better in my opinion) nor did Mario's return in Sunshine or Double Dash after the SNES/N64/GBA versions made me sit up and appreciate the game on offer but everything else mentioned, especially Eternal Darkness, Metroid Prime, Pikmin and Viewtiful Joe are absolutely brilliant.

The more I look back at the GameCube, the more I realise how good the games were.

Good stuff from NWR once again!

I know but if you have a HDTV to play the two games on, they look much more pleasing on the eye.

I am a bitter person over the lost of The Wind Waker's cel-shaded style for Twilight Princess but I still appreciate what is on offer in the game itself.

How on earth did Need For Speed: Carbon grasped the Racing Game of the Year award?

Other than that, the list is reasonably agreeable although I think Gears of War and/or Viva Pinata were artistically the best games especially on a HDTV.

You know that Microsoft hosted their own tradeshow for the Xbox (360) called X06 last autumn?

It was then that Capcom confirmed that their two Xbox 360 games - Dead Rising and Lost Planet - are exclusives but then again, look at what happened when Capcom decided to bring Killer 7, Resident Evil 4 and Viewtiful Joe 1 & 2 over to the PlayStation 2 a few years ago so anything is a possibility at this rate.

Both Dead Rising and Lost Planet are Xbox 360 exclusives so there is no chance of your wishful 'port' on the Wii especially considering Capcom will have to work backwards and dumb/knock down the graphics department to make it run smoothly and suitable for the Wii.

No, that honor goes to Okami.

Fair enough but LocoRoco certainly is one of them along with We Love Katamari.

It is one of the best handheld games ever made and is certainly the best on the PSP so I think your 'it is good but not great' comment is a bit harsh.

It is the sort of game that puts a smile on everybody's face except one odd person in this thread.

So, I am a 'plant' because somebody who said that MotorStorm is absolutely rubbish without even playing the game? As for the Xbox 360 games, I am merely making comparisons with the launch line-up to what both the PlayStation 3 and Wii offered as well as providing some great games for the thread starter to perhaps check out and buy/play. Is it wrong all of a sudden to recommend games on this forum?

Strictly speaking, my Father went on a business trip to New York and managed to buy a PlayStation 3 over there before Christmas (after launch) for a present for myself so it was unexpected to find that amongst my presents on Christmas day. I wanted the PS3 simply because I am a very appreciative fan of the Ridge Racer series and wanted to play Ridge Racer 7 even though I knew the jump wasn't very large after Ridge Racer 6 on the Xbox 360.

I do apologise for prolonging the argument but I don't expect people to dismiss a game (MotorStorm) when they haven't even played it and bring up negative comments towards the game from other sources. I don't think it has an average ranking of 85% on gameranking for nothing!

LocoRoco is the best game Nintendo never made and if you thought it was 'lame' then you haven't got a heart, heck, do you even enjoy games?

I bet if Nintendo developed it, you would be singing high praise towards the game from the rooftops.

Have you ever heard of importing?

Originally posted by: capamericaFrom what I've read from Japan, where they have the ACTUAL game, they really don't like it, its plays like a direct port of a arcade game, the levels are way to small and there is next to nothing in replay value. Infact in Japan MotorStorm hit the bargain bin within a week after launch.

So you HAVEN'T played it yourself then?

But you haven't played MotorStorm so your opinion is worthless.

Infact if you look at a couple posts back I welcomed RHoQ into the Legion of Wii60 owners since I am one of them as well. I picked up my Xbox360 a couple weeks after launch, just in time of DoA4 infact.

If you 'own pretty much every system thats been released' then why do you intend to attack so many highly regarded games on other (non-Nintendo) systems?

Infact your the first person I've heard say that they liked MotorStorm  on the PS3... Are you sure your not a Sony fanboy or Sony marketer that is pretending to be a Nintendo fan?

Have you actually played MotorStorm?

I cannot go back to 'Excite' Truck without getting the urge to play MotorStorm instead. If you think I am the first person to say they have enjoyed playing MotorStorm then you clearly haven't been beyond Nintendo-only websites because the likes of Eurogamer, GameSpot, Game-trailers and IGN are really appreciating the experience on offer within the game.

I have been a fan of Nintendo for years but unlike 99% of this forum, I like to enjoy other games on other systems.

Well, going by the software for both the PlayStation 3 and Wii neither are that great at the moment.

What I have played of MotorStorm on the PS3 is far more entertaining than anything I have played (and seen) on the Wii and I consider myself quite a Nintendo fan too.

Still, the Xbox 360 is a great console with some absolutely fantastic games. The launch line-up was vastly better than both Nintendo's and Sony's efforts with the likes of Amped 3, Call of Duty 2, Condemned, Kameo, Perfect Dark Zero, PGR3 and Ridge Racer 6.

Since then, Xbox 360 owners have experienced the delights of Fight Night (lovely graphics on HDTV), Ghost Recon, Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, Rockstar Table Tennis, Dead Rising, Enchanted Arms, LEGO Star Wars II, Test Drive Unlimited, Gears of War, Viva Pinata and so forth.

At the moment, the Xbox 360 is the best system to own.

If that is your take on the videogame industry then you must have missed out on a lot of classics available on other systems just because it didn't have the Nintendo logo on the box-art.

A pathetic argument if there ever was one.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Wii stronger then the first Xbox ?
« on: January 30, 2007, 02:57:03 AM »
Since when has the Wii been about the graphics anyway?

We all knew that Nintendo were going to give the graphics department a back-step by offering us to what the GameCube produced but over time we will eventually be able to see the gap between your average (or high quality) GameCube games in terms of graphics to what the Wii can offer in the not too distance future.

At the moment, most developers (especially Ubisoft) are being very lazy and putting less than inspiring ports on the shop shelves so we shouldn't haste to say that the Wii is merely offering GameCube terms in the graphics department when Zelda: Twilight Princess looks wonderful although you could argue that it is the art direction that makes it more appreciative to look (and play).

It has been nearly two months since the Wii was released so I wouldn't worry about the disappointing effort(s) that shows average GameCube standard graphics so far as by the end of the year, we should hopefully enjoy games that are both enjoyable to watch and play.
