Notice any running themes?
The Wii is shaped like a rectangle with a notch in a corner. The wrist strap dongle is also shaped like this, as well as the power brick and several of the cord connectors.

So do SD cards :P

Nintendo Gaming / Component compatibility
« on: December 03, 2006, 05:18:05 AM »
I'm from the UK and was wondering how i could findout if my TV could use a component cable.
I 've seen it can improve Zelda's sharpness and would like to be able to take advantage of this.

How do I check if the Tv is compatible with a component cable?

Nintendo Gaming / RE:What to do with the remote when the console is off?
« on: November 28, 2006, 08:29:11 AM »
I think I read somewhere that somehow th econsole turns the remotes off when the console is turned off...

I swear i read that, but i cant remember for the life of me where it was...

something to do with the console being switched to off makes the controllers turn off to safe battery life...

Alternatively, remove the batteries when you've done playing and put themback in when you want to start again? or buy rechargables

Nintendo Gaming / is it all hype? (UK onlooker)
« on: November 21, 2006, 03:45:01 AM »
I'm from the Uk and don't get the Wii til December ,  I was excited about getting it a few weeks ago, after wacthing Gamespots On the Spot "We Got a Wii" marathon.

After the posts and reveiws since the US release, does the Wii live up to what was expected, or was it all hype ..

I don't want to be disappointed when december rolls around, so i'm hoping that the reveiws and posts are based on personal opinion rather than a unanimous "Wii isn't too good"

Like with Red Steel reviews, (I dont particularly want this game), but i was so looking forward to Zelda. Despite the Wiimote speaker problem, is this game still good?

I'm looking to pick up Zelda, Monkey Ball, Trauma Centre and Rayman., do you recommend them?

I'm aiming for mostly a worthwhile way to play with a few friends and not for them to get bored of the minigames and such.

oh and goes without saying that Metroid will be in my collection when it actually gets released ¬.¬

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Things Wii can and can't do...

Do FreeLoader discs ever mess with the console over a period of time?

I'm guessing its a temporary fix for region encoding, so it doesnt do any lasting 'damage' to the console.

i dont want to risk using a FL disc on my shiny new Wii ^_____^

It's like, if Nintendo want players to experience some level of immersion in their games, especially one like Metroid, then they could have kept the thing going like the rest of the controls.

They managed to include interesting new things like the grapple throw then they could have still incorporated the door opening into Samus' left hand, aka the Nunchaku controller.

from recent reviews of other games, like Red Steel and Zelda, i feel Metroid would be able to make goo duse of the Wii control system.

reveiws said that the Wii functions on Zelda felt "tacked on", like they could be done without, but Metroid would make good use of the 'throw and yank' methos of grappling etc.

(i am in no way dissing Zelda, in fact, it'll still be my first game, and i look forward to it)

this obviously isnt going to stop me awaiting Prime 3, but its only really something I felt like sharing. Seeing as I've been told GAME wont be able to fulfil my order with their first shipment (again, im in the UK) i have to do something to keep me occupied til the glorious day i get a Wii :P

I realise this isnt about the exciting release of the Wii, but seeing as I'm from the UK, I have another 21 days to wait....

so to keep my mind on other things to avoid exploding...

the only thing i think is kinda annoying in Metroid Prime 3: corruption is the 'continuity' witht the controllers used.

to throw the Grapple Beam, you cast the Nunchaku controller.

To fire, you use the Wiimote.

But when Samus open doors using the new "twisty lock",  obviously her left hand is doing it (the right one having the handicap of being encased in a cannon) but to control the opening o fthe door, you turn and push with the Wiimote.

I thought they could at least make the Nunchaku operate to open doors...only an insignificant view really but one i felt like saying

Nintendo Gaming / So, when's Metroid coming out?

I read somewhere that MEtroid is being released in Winter 2007, so I'm guessing that means sometime during Q1 2007?

when i read it i suddenly had a thought that it meant this time  next year... but thats just me being stupid right....Winter runs up to March doesnt it?

I'm from the UK and I bought a US import of Baten Kaitos Origins from France. I bought a disc that let me use a import game on a PAL GCN but I was wondering if the 'import player' disc would still be able to be used on the Wii so I could still play BKO on the Wii?

I know th ewii is backwards compatible, but I wasnt sure if the disk tray was redesigned in a way which wouldnt let those sort of discs be used properly (booting up with the import player disc  then opening the lid and putting in the game disc) because the GCN has a lid and you can open it to change discs to use those cheat type discs.. any help would be appreciated thanks
