That made me chuckle. Plus, it's true. Therefore, You are FTW.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: Mortal Kombat: Armageddon coming to Wii in 2007
« on: August 01, 2006, 02:17:28 PM »
I didn't play Deception, but i loved Deadly Alliance. It was also great fun in multiplayer!

However, one thing annoyed the hell out of me in that game. Midway decided to just use D-pad control. It just so happened that the Gamecube's D-pad was pretty small, which made playing this game a lot less easier than it could've been. I had no problems myself, but it could have been made much easier. What was their reason for no analogue control?

I'm glad that this was just a big over-exaggeration.  To lose Camelot would be terrible news.

Thankfully, it was a big fuss over nothing.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: How will the Wii reach out to the non-gamers?

Part 2 was the best by far, imo. I love all 3 films, but i love the second one the most.

I was reading on another forum how Nintendo could use the "where we're going, we don't need roads" scene in a DS or Wii advert.
It sorta went back to E32004 where Reggie said (about the DS) "do you want to go down the same road, but faster? Or do you want to go down a new road?"

Great idea.

I'm really looking forward to this game. Hopefully, it's going to be another great game to play online.

The thing is, i've been reading some other threads about this on different forums, and it seems that a lot of people were quite happy to see him leaving. That's not going to do a lot for his confidence, poor guy. :p

Remember it isn't Nintendo Wii.

But just Wii.

Good point. I think Honda and Coca Cola do theirs 'in-house'.
Anyway, lets see what they come up with. The DS ads are half decent so maybe they've learnt?

As it stands advertising the Wii and getting the name out is going to be one of the most difficult advertising campaigns ever.  Personally, I hope Nintendo doesn't do this in house, but hires an advertising firm to do a huge imaging campaign correctly.

It would be a good idea to adverise with a different firm, i agree. I personally like the Honda adverts on tv. If Nintendo could form a partnership with the likes of Honda and Coca Cola, that would help a great deal with advertising.

Nintendo Gaming / RE: "Playing with my Wii" becomes clean?
« on: June 20, 2006, 01:25:29 PM »
It works with Nintendo consoles. You can say i'm playing with my Nintendo, or i'm playing with my Cube, or 64, or DS. Its sorta the same with the other companies too. I've noticed that a lot of people refer to the PS2 as a "playstation", not Sony Playstation. I think the Wii is playing on this factor.

I agree with the above comment. The first i loved about the name was how different it was. That immediately made it cool, as it was quite unique.
I was also trying to think about what the name meant. Wii? Is it an abbreviation? How do you pronounce it? Is it We or Why?  Does it matter how you pronounce it? Stuff like that. It had a shroud of mystery around it.

What worries me about the launch is that Nintendo won't advertise it, or if the 360 or PS3 take away too much attention away from the launch. Nintendo need to get off to a good start.

Ahhh, yeah. I remember your name.

Anyway, good discussion guys. I think a lot of you are pointing at the significance of marketing.
I would have to agree. I think Nintendo have go out on all-out offensive marketing strategy. Tv, cinema, magazines, newspapers, the lot.

During the world cup, i think everybody is excited by it. Even those who are not football fans.

Best match so far, for me anyway, has been the game between Argentina and the ivory coast. Fantastic game.

Hey guys. I've already posted a thread in Wii discussion, but i got told it would be a good idea to post here as well.

So, long story short: my name is Fierce_LiNk. I'm from that little country attached to England called....Wales. :p
Been a Nintendo fan since the SNES days. I bought an N64 relatively late on in its lifetime. But, i was there from day one at the start of the cube's life.
I've been posting on another site/message board known as cube-europe for many years now. It has recently changed to revo-europe.com.  I've worked through the ranks to obtain the title of admin on the forums just before the forum changed over.
I've been visiting this site since the start of the cube's life, but i never got the courage to sign up here. Well, here i am. Nice little place you got here.

Hey, thanks for the welcome. I'll check out that board in just a sec.

About advertising: The DS has been a phenominal success in pretty much all territories. I think Nintendo advertised the DS extremely well. If you watch channel 4 (especially on a friday night), you'll see adverts for the DS. You will also see the DS sponsoring shows and programmes. There were also a ton of cinema adverts. It's been astounding. Compared to the advertising that the gamecube received, Nintendo are like a company possessed!

This is only my second post btw.

My avatar features the character Hartigan, who is played by Bruce Willis in Sin City. I just love the film and Bruce Willis is an awesome actor.

Edit: My avatar was too big for the forum's limits, so i took it off.

Nintendo Gaming / How will the Wii reach out to the non-gamers?
« on: June 19, 2006, 03:42:37 PM »
Hey guys, this is my first post here. I intend to make a good impression....well..i'll try.:p

My name is Fierce_LiNk and i've been playing games for years. My first games console was a commodore64, but i believe that i truely became a gamer during the SNES days.
It was titles like mario allstars, killer instinct, Fifa96 and street fighter 2 which got me into gaming. Since then, i've never looked back.

Over the past few years, i've joined other gaming sites. In particular, i joined an awesome site that used to be called Cube-europe. Now, it has evolved into Revo-europe and is one of the biggest fansites out there at the moment. I've worked through the ranks of user to become moderator, and then admin. So, i must be doing something right. :p
I've also been watching this site evolve since the gamecube's early days. I was weary about joining another message board as i felt that i didn't have time to commit to two places. However, it is 01:40 am and i have nothing better to do, so i thought i'd break the ice. :p

Basically, i wanted to try and make a good first impression, while also making an interesting topic.

Today, i received my copy of brain training through the post. After hearing about this 'non-game', i didn't know what to expect.
However, i opened up the package, and booted up the game with my Mum at my side. I wanted to see if this game could REALLY appeal to people of all ages.
And it sure did.
The first thing we tried was sudoku. My mum was impressed with the handwriting recognition, and so was i.
Next up, was voice recognition. I made an error here as i was saying the name of the word and NOT the name of the colour. This meant i was saying the wrong word, and it left me puzzeled for a while. Until i came to my senses, that is. :p

The thing is, my Mum is now thinking about getting me a DS lite...so that she can keep my old DS. I was shocked at this. I really didn't expect this 'game' to have such an impact on my mum.

My question to you guys is..how will Wii reach out to the non-gamers in the same way that the DS did? At the moment, i can't see it equalling the success of the DS, let alone surpassing it. The DS and Wii are two different breeds, and i can't see a game like brain training coming out on Wii and attempting to get non-gamers playing games.
Saying that though, i have learnt that we should never assume anything. Anything can happen.

So, post away. I hope i made a good impression.
