Nintendo Gaming / RE:What happened to the Flash cards for memory?
« on: January 09, 2004, 11:13:35 PM »
they get  a passing mention every year or so
I guess it just wouldn't be a money maker for Nintendo themselves, like the standard memory cars are.

The game is a perfect rental.
but personally, I would'nt buy it.
rent it for a week and have your wicked way with it. It's a blast.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:Nintendo Pulling Strong

Nintendo's doing pretty well for themselves money-wise.
Well enough to keep pumping out quality consoles and drug-induced bat-**** crazy games that we all love, until Crom the god of steel returns from the wherever the hell he went.

Nintendo Gaming / RE:1080 Avalanche
« on: December 28, 2003, 06:01:22 PM »
The original 1080 was the most enjoyable sports game I ever played, but I hear the 'avalanche' has lost most of the "leveling your board to match the angle of the terrain" mechanic. Which was where all the skill was involved, and the basis of the entire gameplay mechanics. How can it keep the challenge/fun if this is taken away?

Nintendo Gaming / Too Human
« on: February 18, 2003, 02:35:30 PM »
been in production a long time?
It was originally being made for the PSX!! I'm not sure exactly how long, but it's somethng like 5 years!

The games set in the future, you infiltrate a big corporation (you're a cop), and you can upgrade your body parts. choosing to be either a big hard ass, guns-blazing type... or the other extreme, a stealthy quick, ninja type of player... or something in between.
sounds very interesting, something unique. What I've seen of the graphics (very little), it looks very nice, and very stylish.

From the name I'm guessing either monsters or robots (whatever) are too human (meaning they are cruel, and cunning)
or the character is Too human (meaning too weak, slow, frail) and you have to upgrade him to make him a contender.
hopefully we'll see something about too Human at E3.

Nintendo Gaming / How are you supposed to rate a port of an old game?
« on: February 18, 2003, 02:16:32 PM »
"How are you supposed to rate a port of an old game?"

in it's own right.

well that's how I'd do it anyway.

The gaming bar is always being raised. When you rate a game you are comparing it to other games, games that have set the standard.
I wouldn't take points off a games score, simply because it has been on another console earlier. I would simply give it a score that compares it to other games on the console.

Nintendo Gaming / wavebird?
« on: February 18, 2003, 02:06:09 PM »
The wavebird uses radio frequencies to transmit to the GC.
Before the wavebird, all wireless controllers used infrared, just like a TV remote does. So you had to be in line-of-sight with your console, and pointing right at the damn thing.
With the wavebird you can have a bag of chips, a table or even a freakin brick wall between you and the console, and it will respond just as quickly as if there were a wire connecting the controller and the console.

Nintendo Gaming / Marionette
« on: February 17, 2003, 05:26:46 PM »
When this whole Marionette thing came up ages ago I was doing my usual wild guess thing and I came up with what i think is a pretty cool idea.
A game where you control a string puppet (maybe a mario puppet, whatever).
the way you control it, is the interesting part.

you link up the GBA to you GC.
put one of those tilt'n'tumble cartridges into your GBA, then you use the GBA just like an imaginary puppet is hanging underneath it. you tilt the GBA to wobble your on-screen puppet. Maybe press L or R to make it jump or punch, whatever you can think of.
the game could be very cool. you could even have 4 GBA's plugged into one GC, and have a big puppet show, or puppet brawl, or something. Maybe a puppet RPG

Nintendo Gaming / ok! so i'm a Nintendo FREAK!
« on: February 17, 2003, 04:16:16 PM »
I've converted a few people in my time, simply because I don't shut up about videogames.
some reasons that the gamecube is a good choice are:
1) the controller is the best. alot of people won't agree until they spend some time playing with it.
2) Load times are absolutely minimal. Which is actually very important for most genre of games. The PSX really made RPG's quite a chore, loading everytime you walk into someones house.
3) The most important, and one that alot of people have no clue about, because their gaming experience is limited.... Games made by NINTENDO, they are untouchable. end of story.
4) Four controller ports, making 4 player games very common. God knows why Sony didn't include 2 more ports on the PS2... wonder how many the PS3 will have...

Nintendo Gaming / F-Zero GC/AC connection
« on: February 17, 2003, 03:38:45 PM »
I think the most likely link-up would probably just be using a custom made car that you made on the GC, at the arcade.

Who needs a smelly old Halo niche, when you have a new Starfox shooter?

Something I haven't heard of being tried is a first-person MMORPG.
Perhaps something where you are a bounty hunter, or a criminal (it's up to the player), and there are various planets that you can hunt in, or terrorize.
Something like that would be a massive undertaking though.

Nintendo Gaming / What makes 2003 a big year for Nintendo?
« on: February 10, 2003, 02:57:04 PM »
What's Camelot up to by the way? are they behind Mario Tennis, or maybe working on an RPG like Golden sun?
I'd prefer it if they were making a large GC RPG (not golden sun).

Either way I'm sure whatever they make will be great, so I don't really mind.
I'd rather they made an adventure FPS though, instead of a mindless shoot 'em up like Quake or Doom or whatever.

Nintendo Gaming / Soul Calibur 2 Controls
« on: February 08, 2003, 02:42:10 PM »
With SC on the DC I just rested the controller on my knee, and used 3 fingers to press the buttons rather than my thumb.
I'll do the same with the GC controller. No problem.
