TalkBack / RE:GBA SP Rev. 2 at E3?
« on: May 11, 2005, 09:04:55 AM »
I don't see what's so crazy about a new GBA.  It's no different from when Nintendo redesigned the NES and SNES when they were on their way out, or when Sega made a third Genesis when that was on its way out.   I do think that announcing an entirely new handheld only six months after another handheld was released is suicide.  Either the new Game Boy would tank because everybody who had just bought a DS wouldn't want to shell out even more money for something completely new, or future DS software would bomb and support would drop because it would be all about the new Game Boy.  So another GBA makes perfect sense.

What irks me is that the DS version is $29.99 while the GameCube version is $19.99. I hate it when they do that.

Well the DS version is portable and for eight players, the GameCube version is only four players.  I don't know if that alone justifies a higher price tag, but whatever.

SUPER HYPER TURBO EX DX+ a PUZZLE ACTION TO THE EXTREME!

Greatest press release line ever.  Even more so than when Nintendo used the word "bitching" in an NES Classics press release.

Pah.  Things were going so adequately before my computer completely froze without warning.  After that, I couldn't get into the chat room but I could still hear the radio and I FREAKING KNEW THAT SMB DX MUSIC!  Thank god there was no prize at stake.

That's a lot of extras.  I hope they'll all make it to the GameCube version.  Oh, and I just noticed the "updated soundtracks" bit.  A new Megaman 2 soundtrack should kick ass.  They should still keep the original versions, though, for the purists.

yes, just like when we got starfox in april!

hey, we live in hope...
I'm sure it will stay, seeing how the game is finished.  The only reason it's not out now is because Rare was still finding a GBA publisher.

Nintendo Gaming / Nintendo has something even bigger...

I think the Nintendo Power scan shown above has something to do with it. Here it is again:

WHO'S THAT POKÉMON?

Clearly, that's Link.  But isn't it a bit too soon to reveal a new Zelda, seeing as how The Wind Waker was just released?  Maybe it's just that they're showing Soul Calibur II.  But why is it a shadow?  Maybe a new Zelda for GBA?

The Stampers are gone?  First I've heard of it.  Oh well.  As long as Chris Seavor (the Conker guy), Robin Beanland (who did the music for Killer Instinct, Jet Force Gemini, and Conker's Bad Fur Day), and David Wise (who did the music for the first two Donkey Kong Country games, Diddy Kong Racing, and StarFox Adventures) are still there, I'm still getting an Xbox.

Nintendo Gaming / DVD GBA

Just to clear something up, GBA cartridges can only store up to 128 megabits, which is 16 MB.  But I'm sure some SD adaptor would be possible.

Nintendo Gaming / MArio Kart Gba

To unlock the SNES levels, you just need to get 100 coins in that cup in Mario GP mode.  You don't even need a trophy.  As long as you get 4th or better in all the tracks, which you need to get past a course anyway, you'll unlock the track.

Oh, and Mario Kart 64 was my first Mario Kart.  I liked the GBA one, but not as much as the N64 one.

Seems to be for hardcore Ruby/Sapphire addicts only. At least it's cheap.

I knew about the code, but I didn't know anything would happen if you go up to it and press A. That's, like, the best non-NES furniture ever.

How did I know that Ben came up with the Conker's Pocket Tales question? I bet if I wasn't there, nobody would have gotten it.
