Games:  Handheld games are not console games.  PERIOD.  You can't design them in any similar fashion.  Handheld games must have easy save points, be a game that is quick to get into, and be able to quickly satisfy.  Handheld games are best as arcade type games.

I agree, but there are so many good RPGs as well. I think the ones that have done best are the ones with a mission and a few enemies to beat where you can save right after (I'm talking about FFTA and Advance Wars of course). Pokémon is also good, you can level up your creatures on the bus without getting roped into an imersive story.

When Pokemon and Advance Wars hit the DS... blimey.
Also, the instant sleep mode when you slap the lid down is AWESOME for getting off the bus and into the classroom to finish a level on kirby

Back to your point on arcade games, I think a clear indication of what you have unlocked is good. Take Wario Ware and Kirby Canvas Curse for example, you know what you are doing, and can just do a quick rainbow run on the train to get a couple of medals. I think the DS already has some killer arcade titles you were talking about.

Yea, V2 has hard save whilst V3 has quick save too (like a save state on an emulator). I don't see the need for this, you can't use save states on a real GBA game, so its like cheating in a way. If this idea interests you though, get V3.  Its says it has "ROM Compression" on V3 as well, but with 1GB, you won't need it.

Basically, GBA roms come in a few sizes... 4MB, 8MB, 16MB and some which are bigger. These are the cart sizes, they are in Megabits on the website as thats what real GBA carts use, but Windows uses Megabytes.

128Mb = 16MB
256Mb = 32MB
512Mb = 64MB
1Gb = 128MB

So, if you take 8MB as the average rom size, you can fit around 2 roms on 128Mb, 4 on 256Mb etc. You can get other software that converts say an image into a tiny .gba file, so you can view it on the GBA/DS. Movies, Ebooks and Emulation of very retro systems is also featured.

HIGHLY RECCOMENDED FOR ANY GBA OWNER

Dead? I havn't properly played all my old games yet! I'm playing starfox and that is as old as the hills! Metroid Prime, DKonga, Wind Waker, MKDD, Mario Party Series, Sonic Adventure DX, if you havn't played these properly yet, you sohuldn't be worrying about new games.

Mine says it has an in built clock, but I've never had a game that used it, Pokémon Gold is the only game that I know of that uses the battery as a clock, any ideas?

I have the 256MB Version, It can play ANY NES game, (except Duck Hunt and the like ), it comes with software for writing the rom, and you just choose to convert a NES rom to a GBA rom. It even has a [Select] menu, with features about saving, screen res etc. It cost around 75 pounds... check eBay and the like for it in dollars.

LAN Compat Games:

   *  Mario Kart: Double Dash!! (2-16 players)
   * 1080: Avalanche (2-4 players)
   * Kirby's Aire Ride (2-4 players)

Hardly seems worth it

Its only 25 dollars/14 pounds, I have one, I would reccomend it, but its not the best thing ever. First up, you have to compress it (a movie) to be a .gbm file, quite a pain, seeing as the software is limited. Especially since there is a slider of how big you want it, so I'd set it to 128MB, and I sometimes end up with 4 128MB files. If you have a 256/512 CF, you're laughing... and 1GB is even better!

As for other stuff, I never use the music because I have a great MP3 Player, I never use the pictures because they have to be BMP, I never use the Famicon Games because I have a GBA Flash Linker that can do the same AND saving, but I use the E-Book Reader ALL THE TIME. Console FAQs, Game Reviews, Collecting Tips, everything.

The player looks nice on a GBA SP, but oh-so-sweet on the DS.

If you get it, my advice is "Don't expect to have nice looking movies straight away, it takes time to get familiar of what settings to use for what type of video"

Addicitve Game, what springs to mind when you say that? Puzzle Games? Wario Ware? Well for me, its Metroid PH:FS. I am still playing the demo since christmas day, and I'll pop through regulator just before a lesson starts, or while the conversation topic changes to Halo . The control method is brilliant, so accurate. I only have three DS games (Wario Ware, Mario and Metroid), and its already creeping up to my favourite.
